- I'm sitting here watching the video release of the Lawnmower Man,
- which is apparently the un-rated director's cut (just when you thought
- we were finished with director's cuts...=), and it has revived my
- beliefs the the conformist, negative consensus opinion of this group
- at the initial release was harsh and reactionary. Hold you rbreath
- folks: I LIKE THE MOVIE!.
-
- At any rate, a couple questions and comments:
-
- 1. Looking back, this film can be disected fairly excrutiatingly
- close. Now, I'm not saying it's as well-made or even comprable to
- Ridley's Bladerunner, but Lawnmower Man does have it's readable
- aspects. For example, gee, wow, the Lawnmower Man is named Job. if
- that isn't a hint as to some semblance ogf symbolism, I don't know
- what is.
-
- 2. I like the director's cut better. The differences seem notable.
- Does anybody have any detailed list of the differences? Since, unlike
- Bladerunner, we don't have the privelage of being able to review both
- versions simultaneously (since the original release no longer is
- playing, apparently). So, again, does anybody have any detailed
- accounts of the differences between the two versions?
-
- 3. Any word on the sequel?
-
- 4. Anybody thinking of reviving the thread of opinions of this film,
- please shut up now. Instead of wasting more bandwidth with tired old
- comments, go find a site that has really old articles. I don't care
- to see a followup of this message that lists the entire quoted message
- and then something like "THAT MOVIE REALLY SUCKED. IT BIT. WATCH
- BLADERUNNER INSTEAD OR SOMETHING WORTH THE TIME." Gee, that's new.
