  25. This is the perception you'd get from the commercial media, if you
  26. found the Green Parties mentioned at all.  The Green Party of California
  27. and the US Greens share ten "key values," against which we weigh
  28. proposals, and only one is "ecological wisdom."  The others are:

  30. respect for diversity
  31. personal and global responsibility
  32. nonviolence
  33. postpatriarchal values (feminism)
  34. grassroots democracy
  35. decentralization
  36. community-based economics
  37. future focus
  38. social justice.

  40. The best, perhaps the *only*, way to find out what the Green Party is
  41. about is to go to your local meeting.  Experience formal decisionmaking
  42. by consensus.  Nothing less deserves the label "democracy."
