- This is the perception you'd get from the commercial media, if you
- found the Green Parties mentioned at all. The Green Party of California
- and the US Greens share ten "key values," against which we weigh
- proposals, and only one is "ecological wisdom." The others are:

- respect for diversity
- personal and global responsibility
- nonviolence
- postpatriarchal values (feminism)
- grassroots democracy
- decentralization
- community-based economics
- future focus
- social justice.

- The best, perhaps the *only*, way to find out what the Green Party is
- about is to go to your local meeting. Experience formal decisionmaking
- by consensus. Nothing less deserves the label "democracy."
