  16. In general, you're right.  But in this case, where they're thinking
  17. of splitting alt.fan.rush-limbaugh into subgroups, I think there's
  18. justification to my point that they leave the *.politics discussion in
  19. alt.fan.rush-limbaugh but go ahead with the creation of the others.
  20. Perhaps my perception of alt-as-eternal is fatalist, but using the
  21. facts of the current situation to help avoid one of the well-known
  22. problems of alt is useful in this case.  There's going to be nothing
  23. left for alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, and since the core of his attraction
  24. is his politics, why waste time essentially renaming it?

  26. Of course, if I were a sysadmin, I'd use the "is this reasonable"
  27. method for dealing with newgroups and rmgroups, but the point is moot.
  28. I'm not, and I have no control mine or your systems.  However, I can
  29. advise the people who want these groups to step lightly around this
  30. problem by simply avoiding the need to rmgroup alt.fan.rush-limbaugh
  31. by specifically delineating what part of the discussion should stay
  32. there -- in my opinion, that'd be the *.politics part.

  35. work in alt" from my list of accepted things to say in public.
