  11.    The brumby appears by the bar, looking rather dazed from lack of sleep.

  13.    "I hope this post gets out, I've spent the past 5 hours delving into
  14. the intricacies of C-News and NNTP to try and let news get out of Zikzak,
  15. as well as in. But you can't mail me here yet, we tried to install a new
  16. mail program and in retaliation the disk died and deleted the old one
  17. before we discovered that the new one doesn't work."

  19.    The brumby sighs.
  20.  
  21.    "Anyway, I also want to thank those people who mailed me on my
  22. birthday. I _finally_ got around to answering all my email this evening,
  23. (yesterday evening?) and after replying to the first one, the network
  24. locked up. So all of us in that lab sat and admired the wild spring storm
  25. going on outside and waited for the net to come back up until we realised
  26. that the noise we could hear was the fire alarm in the next building. The
  27. one with the machine room. So we wandered over to have a look, and met the
  28. fire brigade racing in, and someone being chased out who told us that the
  29. alarm was set off by the water on the floor. The floor that has 415 volt
  30. cables in it for the Vaxes. Hmmm. I don't know whether Monash is back
  31. online yet, or whether it will be for some time if that is true. So all my
  32. email will have to wait until then I suppose."

  34.    The brumby blinks and flicks his ears.
  35.  
  36.    "There's no real point to my rambling like this, other than that it's
  37. 3am (ignore whatever time is on the post, the same disk crash wiped out the
  38. timezones file) and I feel like posting to something other than a test
  39. group. And I haven't had the time to post here for a while."

  41.    Thebrumby peers back through an X-window to a lounge room that contains
  42. two sleeping figures, and one typing one. Two terminals sit by the
  43. fireplace, Zik asleep in a chair in front of one, and the brumby's RL self
  44. busy typing away at the other. Robyn is curled up on the couch.

  46.    "I suppose I should wake people and go home. Zik has just started to
  47. stir."
