- Chris, ( you are likely to get several responses ) Shimpaku should NOT be brown.
-
- ...a number of things could be contributing to the ill-health of your tree:
-
- - if you've kept it ouside, good! they are not indoor trees...
- (some special winter care may be needed in extreme climates)
-
- - too much water (causing root rot)
- - not enough water
- - improper feed/fertilizer (again, too much, too little... wrong mixture)
-
- - it could be improper pH of the soil (this prevents the plant from absorbing
- the necessary minerals and nutrients)
-
- - it's doubtful that it's lighting (better in sun than shade, but either works)
- - it's doubtful it's temperature (it'll stand cold, and even frost, or HOT sun)
-
- At the rate it is going brown (from your mail) I would suggest no more experimenting with
- possible solutions..take it to the nearest Bonsai nursery/store/class, and ask for help.
-
- If you wait too long, help will not be possible.
-
- Good luck! (most of us have lost a few ... or killed a few...)
