- I don't think they're enough, no. I think TBBS's strength's
- lie in it's speed and incredible customization ability. It's also
- fairly easy to setup, the complexity based on how complex you want to
- make the system *grin*
-
- As for the limitations I listed, a) can be easily be replaced
- with TDBS and the associated programs you can buy/write for it that
- can run under TBBS/TDBS (which *sigh* can be countered again by the price of
- the TDBS module and the sometimes abnormally priced programs).
-
- b) is a limitation, and it doesn't look like it will be "fixed" by
- means of eventually toss/scanning on the BBS machine. There are rumors
- that eventually there will be that capability with another machine (LAN),
- but they are only rumors, and I myself don't like the idea of having to
- buy another machine simply to process mail (makes me think of the BBS
- software that requires a different machine for each node :(
-
- As for expense, it is and it isn't. If you're only running
- a 3-4 line system, then paying $900 for TBBS 16 is probably a bit
- much. However, if you want to run a full 32 lines, I can only see it as
- cheaper for the performance you get. I know of no DOS BBS program
- (thinking of RA, QuickBBS, PCBoard, etc.) that will run this many lines
- on a single CPU without any loss of performance for the other users
- on the other lines without going the multi-machine/for/multi-node
- route.
