- I'm fairly sure it used to be the case in the UK that traffic lights were
- advisory, so you could go through if you wanted, but it left you open to a
- charge of 'driving without due care and attention' or one of the similar
- offences. However I believe they've changed this so it's now always illegal
- to go through a red light, unless you're driving an emergency vehicle.
- Oh well.
