  6. The Images

  8. This disc contains photographic quality images in KODAK Photo CD format. 
  9.  
  10. As with any image, your possession of a physical copy of these digitized
  11. images does not in itself mean you have unlimited rights to use the images.  Most images, including those on this disc, are protected by copyright, and
  12. use requires the permission of the copyright owner.
  13.  
  14. For the images on this compact disc, Uniqueway grants the following rights:
  15.  
  16.   Authorized holders of The Risc Disc sampler disc may use, manipulate,
  17.   store, transmit, reproduce and display the recorded images for any
  18.   purpose associated with electronic imaging.  Unless otherwise agreed,
  19.   a picture credit identifying the photographer must accompany each
  20.   reproduction of an image, but no picture credits may be used for
  21.   images altered or manipulated other than by cropping, enlarging,
  22.   "dodging and burning" or changing overall color balance.

  24. The Format

  26. Images on the Photo CD are encoded in five uniquely formatted resolu-
  27. tions.  Users can select the resolution on the basis of intended use:
  28.  
  29.   o  Thumbnail, for selecting and previewing (Base/16, 128x192 pixels)
  30.   o  Snapshot, for low-resolution image manipulation (Base/4, 256x384
  31.      pixels)
  32.   o  TV-comparable, for moderate resolution (Base, 512x768 pixels)
  33.   o  HDTV, for high-resolution image handling (Base X4, 1024x1536 pixels)
  34.   o  Full detail, for photographic-quality printing and enlargement
  35.      (Base X16, 2048x3072 pixels)

  37. The Access

  39. To view these images you must have a computer with a Photo CD compatible
  40. CD ROM drive (Mode 2 and Form 1), and the appropriate KODAK Photo CD
  41. Access software such as Acorn's Photoview or ChangeFSI.
  42.  
  43. Application software that has been developed using the Kodak Photo CD
  44. Access software is capable of accessing the Photo CD images from within
  45. their menus for more convenient use of the images.  Look for the Photo
  46. CD logo on packaging to indicate this capability.
  47.  
  48. To achieve the full impact and quality of these images you should use a
  49. full color 24-bit display system on your computer.
