- IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ BEFORE RUNNING IMAGE
- -------------------------------------------------
-
-
- Special Uniqueway CD-Rom version.
-
-
- Image requires Risc OS 3.1 or higher. It is fully Risc PC compatible.
-
-
- IMAGE is SHAREWARE - it is NOT free software.
-
- Please read the User Licence (see below for details) before running Image. If
- you run Image you are deemed to have read, and agreed to the user licence. If
- you don't wish to accept the user licence, the answer is simple, don't run
- Image.
-
- Image is a 24bit image processing package for RISC OS, running under versions
- 3.1 onwards. It provides the user with tools to alter the colour range of a
- picture (brighten, darken, gamma correction, user defined transformations,
- grey scale, equalize, etc.), filter an image (soften, sharpen, remove noise,
- edge detection, etc.), resize an image (including rescale, crop, extend,
- etc), rotate (by any angle about any point, also produce spirals), merge two
- pictures (in many different ways), and also touch up a picture. It can read
- multiple formats including sprite (2, 4, 16, or 256 colour, plus 15bpp and
- 24bpp sprites), clear files, PBMPlus, GIF and JPEG images.
-
- Note: The 'Save' functionality of this version of Image is limited to
- standard 2, 4, 16, 256 and 32k colour sprites. Versions supplied to
- registered users will include the ability to save clear files, 24bpp sprites,
- PPM and JPEG files. There are also some other facilities which are not
- available in this version which will be provided in later versions (to
- registered users).
-
- Also the 32bpp display option (for Risc PC owners) is missing from this
- demonstration version, again this will be supplied to registered users.
-
- The first thing you should be aware of is that Image stores pictures,
- internally, using files (thus keeping its memory usage to a minimum,
- and also allowing it to process pictures too big to fit in memory).
-
- By default these files are stored within a directory within the scrap scrap
- directory.
-
- It is important to realize how Image works, as it is a little different to
- most image processing packages. For this reason you should read the
- documentation BEFORE attempting to use Image (the documentation takes the
- form of a help application. To run the help application either (a) run the
- !Help file in this archive, or (b) use the Filer menu 'Help' option for the
- '!Image' application.
-
- The help application brings up a 'Contents' window containing a number of
- subject headings - simply click over the subject heading you wish to read
- (you should start off with the 'User Licence' then move onto the
- 'Introduction'). When you click on a subject the text for that subject will
- be loaded into you current text editor (or !Edit), and with some subjects an
- extra draw file will be loaded into !Draw.
