- THE RISC DISC
-
-
- Before running the Risc Disc you may need to update your System with the
- Sysmerge utility which is in the Install directory.
-
- If you intend to run the EMPIRE demonstration you will also need to copy the
- !ARWork application out onto your hard disc. (Your hard disc needs to have
- approximately 6MB free).
-
- To run this CD click on the !RiscDisc icon and you will be presented
- with an interactive guide to the contents of the CD.
-
- This CD is designed to run under Risc OS 3.5 on a Risc PC with 4MB DRAM and at
- least 1MB VRAM.
- The main exception to this is the Risc PC demo from Acorn which requires at
- least 8MB DRAM and 2MB VRAM. Some applications are also designed to run under
- Risc OS 3.1.
-
- Some contents of the disc are designed to be copied onto hard-disc before
- use. But the primary aim is that the CD should avoid the need for you to hold
- demos and utilities etc on your hard disc.
-
- The contents of this disc have been scanned using !Killer Version 1.800 from
- Pineapple Software for all currently known viruses.
-
- Where possible we have tried to ensure that all programs use common resources
- but you may find that if you are running a number of different demo's
- successively that conflicting versions of some modules are loaded by different
- applications. All applications have been tested to run individually but it is
- impossible to check every possible combination of applications.
-
- To avoid problems with filenames not conforming to ISO formatting on the CD you
- will notice that some applications are in ArcFS archives rather than normal
- directories. These are uncompressed Archives which may be opened as normal by
- double-clicking. All the software on this disc may be run either using the
- front end pages in the !RiscDisc application or directly from the CD. You may
- even find hidden applications which we have forgetten to include on the
- !RiscDisc pages!! Sorry, no prizes if you do find any we've missed off.
