RISC User was launched in 1987 as one of the first magazines to cater exclusively for Acorn RISC computers, and has been going strong ever since. Our readers range from those who want to understand the technicalities of their computer, through programmers, educationalists, business and professional users, to the less experienced users who need simple down-to-earth advice without jargon. Each issue of RISC User has plenty for everyone.ŷ

ŷ
* We offer a rich variety of articles, program listings and other items aimed at programmers of all levels, in Basic, C and Assembler.ŷ
ŷ
* RISC User builds into a comprehensive reference source on all aspects of using Acorn computers. Most back issues are still available, together with indexing software allowing you to locate any article quickly.ŷ
ŷ
* A magazine disc is available each month at a small additional cost containing many useful applications. We do not fill our disc with manufacturers' demos or public domain programs - everything on the disc is written specially for RISC User and each month's disc is carefully compiled to ensure that it provides a good mix of useful items.ŷ

Indeed, many of our readers have been with us since our very first issue, and we value their loyalty highly.ŷ

* We offer attractive discounts to subscribers on many of Beebug's own products. You could quickly save your annual subscription and more.ŷ

ŵŴAll this and more for just £21.90 a year - half the price of a piece of budget software!☓ŷ
The application you are using now can be used to control the programs in the RISCUser directory, which are sample applications taken from our magazine disc over the last two years. Selections may be made on all icons appearing in this viewer, and by using the tool bar at the top of this window.ŷ
ŷ
The first icon in the tool bar takes you to the Master Menu. From the Master Menu you may click on an application's icon to run it, or on an ŵInfo☓ icon for information about it (you are advised to read about each application before running it).ŷ
ŷ
The ŵLeft☓ and ŵRight☓ tool bar icons take you backwards and forwards through the menu, giving information about each entry in turn.ŷ
ŷ
The ŵUp☓ icon takes you to the top of the current text.ŷ
ŷ
The ŵF☓ icon toggles between the use of outline fonts and the system font for all pages apart from the Master Menu itself. If you are using a low resolution monitor you may find the system font easier to read. If you do not have RISC OS 3 this option will be greyed out, and all help pages will be displayed in the system font.ŷ
ŷ
ŴRunning an Application☓ŷ
Applications may be run by clicking on their icon in the Master Menu or in the corresponding information viewer.ŷ
ŷ
Note that if you click with ŵAdjust☓, the viewer will be closed prior to running the application.ŷ
ŷ
Each application is complete in its own right, and may alternatively be run in the usual way by double-clicking on its icon in a directory viewer.ŷ
ŷ
Help may also be obtained at any time by clicking ŵMenu☓ over an application's icon in the directory viewer, and choosing the ŵHelp☓ option from the ŵApp. xxxx☓ submenu. This will result in the help text being loaded into Edit (assuming that Edit's icon has been 'seen' first).ŷ
ŷ
The entire disc may be copied to another disc, a hard disc or a network by simply dragging all of the applications (including this one) to the relevant directory viewer. But such copying must be for the sole use of the purchaser.ŷ
ŷ
Application directories can be entered by holding down Shift while clicking on a program icon.ŷ
ŷ
ŴRemoving Control Codes☓ŷ
If you wish to remove the control codes from any of the Help files used with this menu system, simply drag them to the Master Menu icon on the icon bar, and make use of the Save box which appears. This will be useful if you are making a stand-alone copy of any of the items on the disc. But remember that if you overwrite the original Help file, the outline font codes used by the Master Menu will be lost next time you run it.ŷ
