  7. 1.0 Introduction
  8. ----------------
  9. WaveWorks 1.1 is delivered as a ".ZIP" file, which is a compressed
  10. file format that allows multiple files to be communicated easily over
  11. communications links.  In order to be able to install WaveWorks you
  12. need an up-to-date copy of pkUnzip, revision 2.0.3g or later.

  14. The following instructions assume that you are using your PC in DOS
  15. mode, at the command line prompt.  These instructions are a manual
  16. installation process which will be automated prior to final release.

  19. 2.0 Create a directory for WaveWorks
  20. ------------------------------------
  21. First you should create a directory on your hard-drive to contain
  22. WaveWorks.  For example, if your hard-drive is "C:", it is suggested
  23. that you create as follows:

  25.   C:> mkdir c:\wavework
  26.  
  27.  
  28. 3.0 Move to that directory
  29. --------------------------
  30. Next you should change your default directory to that created in step
  31. 2.0 above:
  32.  
  33.   C:> cd c:\wavework
  34.  
  35.  
  36. 4.0 Copy the .ZIP file
  37. ----------------------
  38. Copy the WAVWOR11.ZIP file from wherever you downloaded it (or floppy disk)
  39. into the current directory.  For example, from the B: floppy:

  41.   C:\WAVEWORK> copy b:wavwor11.zip .

  44. 5.0 Unzip WaveWorks
  45. -------------------
  46. Next you should run the unzip program on the ZIP file.  If you do not have
  47. a copy of PKUNZIP, and you received this software on disk, then check
  48. the disk for PKUNZJR.COM, the mini unzip utility from PKWare.

  50.   C:> pkunzip wavwor11

  52. The following files should be created in your working directory:
  53.  
  54.   WAVWOR11.EXE          The Windows 3.1 Executable file
  55.   WAVWOR11.HLP          The Windows 3.1 online Help file
  56.   WAVEWORK.INI          The initialization file
  57.   BWCC.DLL              The Dynamic Link Library needed for 
  58.             the WaveWorks interface and dialogs
  59.   README                This file.

  61. 6.0 Move files into the Windows System Directory
  62. ------------------------------------------------
  63. Before you run WaveWorks it is recommended that you move certain of
  64. the installed files into the C:\WINDOWS directory.  While this is not
  65. strictly required, the WAVEWORK.INI initialization file will only be
  66. read by the application if it is present in C:\WINDOWS. The DLL's can
  67. be left in the installation directory provided that the WaveWorks
  68. always executes in that as a working directory (see your Program
  69. Manager's documentation for how to set the working directory of an
  70. application).

  73.   C:> copy *.INI c:\windows

  75. 7.0 Create the Icon under Program Manager
  76. -----------------------------------------
  77. Finally, you should restart Windows 3.1, run your program manager, and
  78. create a new executable using the "File|New" menu option.  You can use
  79. any of the icons provided with WaveWorks, the default icon is two
  80. interlocking W's, one red and one blue.

  83. 8.0 Run WaveWorks
