  7. Congratulations on your purchase of SoundBits, an 
  8. exciting way to personalize your Windows computer with 
  9. sound.  
  10.  
  11. This file contains information on the following topics:

  18. ACTIVATING THE SAMPLE SOUND SCHEME DURING SETUP
  19. If you choose to activate the sample sound scheme when 
  20. you install SoundBits, any current unsaved scheme in the 
  21. Sound Control Panel is saved as "Your Old Scheme."
  22.  
  23. If you already have a sound scheme called "Your Old 
  24. Scheme," it will be over-written with the current 
  25. unsaved scheme.

  28. TURNING SOUNDS OFF 
  29. To turn off system sounds:
  30. 1. Open the SoundBits icon in the Program Manager.
  31. 2. Choose the Set Sounds button.
  32. 3. Choose the <none> scheme from the Sound Schemes 
  33.    drop-down list box.
  34. 4. Choose the OK button.

  37. MEDIAVISION AUDIO DRIVER 
  38. Early MediaVision audio drivers (MVPROAUD.DRV versions 
  39. prior to 5/13, and possibly some versions after that 
  40. date) may cause serious problems (GP Fault) when 
  41. SoundBits is set up.  
  42.  
  43. To get an updated version of MVPROAUD.DRV, please 
  44. contact MediaVision at 1-800-638-2807.

  47. PROGRAM MANAGER WITH STARTUP APPS
  48. Applications in your Program Manager StartUp Group which 
  49. utilize custom icons may revert to the default icon when
  50. minimized.  To avoid this problem:
  51.  
  52. 1. Create and activate a sound scheme with "Application 
  53.    Open" set to <none>, using the Sound Control Panel.  
  54.  
  55. 2. Restart Windows.

  58. DISABLING SOUNDBITS
  59. To disable SoundBits:
  60. 1. Go to Program Manager, and choose File Run.
  61. 2. Type SYSEDIT and choose OK.
  62. 3. Choose the SYSTEM.INI window.
  63. 4. Scroll to the [boot] section of SYSTEM.INI.
  64. 5. Remove all references to "SndEvnts.drv" in the 
  65.    "drivers=" line.
  66. 6. Choose File Save.
  67. 7. Exit the System Configuration Editor (SYSEDIT).
  68. 8. Restart Windows.
