  6. This file  contains  information  that is not  available  during  the
  7. printing  of  the  manual.  Please  read all the sections  before you
  8. proceed with any installation procedure .

  26.    1.1 INSTALLATION
  27.  
  28.    To install SBTalker to  your  hard disk, run the program SETUP.EXE
  29.    from the  DOS  prompt.  This  program  can  be  found  on the disk
  30.    labelled "Text to Speech Disk".

  33.    1.2 BLASTER ENVIRONMENT
  34.  
  35.    To run SBTALKER software, the BLASTER environment  string  must be
  36.    properly set up.  This  environment string contains information of
  37.    your sound card's configuration.  Please  refer the User Reference
  38.    Manual for more details about setting up this environment string.

  42. 2. MONOLOGUE FOR WINDOWS

  50.    2.2 INSTALLATION
  51.  
  52.    The contents must  be  installed onto a  hard disk  by running the
  53.    INSTALL.EXE program  found  on  the  disk labelled "Text to Speech
  54.    Disk",  from  within  Windows.  The  INSTALL  program will not run
  55.    from the DOS shell.

  57.    The INSTALL  program  will creates the necessary directory on your
  58.    hard disk  and  copies  the Monologue for Windows files to the new
  59.    directory.  It  will  also create a Monologue group in the Program
  60.    Manager.

  63.    2.3 CONFIGURATION
  64.  
  65.    To use any of the  Monologue software, you will have to modify you
  66.    PATH in  AUTOEXEC.BAT to include C:\MONOLOGW (or whatever name you
  67.    chose during installation).

  69.    Before  running  Monologue  for   Windows, ensure  that  you  have
  70.    installed the  Windows  drivers  for  Sound  Blaster.  Also, check
  71.    that  a  speaker  or headphones are plugged into the output of the
  72.    Sound Blaster card.

  74.    For  details  about  testing  the  Sound  Blaster  card for proper
  75.    operation and configuration, and the installation of  the  Windows
  76.    drivers, please refer to the "Getting Started" user guide.
