  5. Welcome to version 1.0 of Icon Hear-It.
  6.  
  7. Please read through this Readme.txt file.  It contains important information
  8. not available when the manual was printed.

  10. Sound

  13. If you do not hear any sound please try assigning the sound again.  
  14. If that doesn't work, check and make sure the HEARITFX 
  15. directory exists beneath Windows and that the TASOUNDS directory exists
  16. beneath ICONHEAR.  The TASOUNDS directory CANNOT be moved, nor can the
  17. files beneath it be deleted.  You will lose your talking applications
  18. if Icon Hear-It cannot find these sound files.

  20. You can erase all or some of the files in HEARITFX without damaging
  21. Icon Hear-It.  But, you will lose any of the preattached sounds whose
  22. file you have deleted or moved.  However, after relocating this directory 
  23. you can reattach these sounds.

  25. Icon Hear-It supports all .wav files.  You can use your own sounds 
  26. with Icon Hear-It by clicking through the directory list boxes to the 
  27. directory that contains your .wav files and following the instructions
  28. outlined in the User's Guide for attaching sounds.

  31. Adding Push Buttons
  32.  
  33. If you add a push button and give it a sound, you will see it in the 
  34. Track All Icon Hear-It Sounds window.  But, if you unattach the sound, 
  35. the push button will be removed from this list.  The preattached push buttons will 
  36. always remain in the list whether you unassign their sounds or not.

  38. Speaker Driver Setup

  40. The Speaker Driver Setup push button in the Options Window works ONLY with 
  41. the speaker driver installed with Icon Hear-It.  When loading, if
  42. Icon Hear-It detects a sound board or speaker driver already on your
  43. system, it will not allow you to use it Speaker Setup.

  45. If you do not have a sound board or other speaker driver installed 
  46. and you still can't access the Speaker Driver Setup, you need to edit your
  47. system.ini file and remove the line :

  49.    Wave= speakerdrivername
  50.  
  51. from underneath the [Drivers] section.  The next time Icon Hear-It loads,
  52. it will write a new "Wave = " with its own speaker driver.
