Subject: 7th symphony
This is the non-messed up message.
This is the binary for 7th Symphony 1.1b which is an update to the
version you have here (1.0b). By Robin Emig itlm051 or ez020930 @ucdavis.edu
description:
Welcome to the world of system 7 sounds!!!
This is an application that plays system 7 sounds in earlier version of the mac system software, ie system 6.0.
Basic information:
7th Symphony should work on most macs. It is an application that is launched by the finder when a user double clicks on a System 7 sound. It then plays the sound and quits.
This program was made because I have many friends who will never upgrade to system 7 and I wanted them to have the ease playing sounds that System 7 allows us.
VERSION HISTORY:
1.0B ORIGINAL VERSION
1.1B FIXED BUGS RUNNING ON SE'S
INCLUDED ABILITY TO STOP SOUNDS
REDUCED MEMORY REQUIREMENTS

#### BINHEX digitrack.hqx ****
From: Mark Armantrout <armtrout@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu>
Subject: Digitrack SUBMISSION
Date: Fri, 31 Jul 92 11:45:18 CDT
I have included a small Mac application I wrote called Digitrack. If you
find it worthy, please feel free to post it anywhere for public distribution.
In this .sit.hqx file, you will find the application, a help file, an about
file, and a small, sample collection of sound resources for use with this
program. I will also send along (in another mail message) a larger collection
of sounds (also in the correct format for use with Digitrack.) Following is
a short description; other instructions can be found in the help files.
Digitrack is a small, unfinished program that will read in all the 'snd '
sound resources in a file, and allow these sounds to be accessed (played)
immediately from the keyboard. Each sound is given a letter, and when the
corresponding key is pressed on the keyboard the sound is played. A track of
such sounds can be recorded and played back in real-time.
This program can be used for live sound recordings where any number of
digitized sounds need to be immediately playable.

From: neath@psych.purdue.edu (Ian Neath)
Subject: cant.get.up 0.9b.cpt.hqx
Fallen 0.9b, a free public domain background-only app.
Being philosophically opposed to inits, I wrote this
app, based on some helpful sample DTS code, to play
a sound when you shut down or restarted your mac
(actually, when you send a quit AppleEvent). You
hear, "I've fallen, and I can't get up!".
System 7 required. I guarantee only that this will
occupy disk space, although it is 32 bit clean.
The reason for the large size (64K) is the
large sound.

From: ebth@rhi.hi.is (Eggert Bjarni Thorlacius)
Subject: Ivar1.0.1.sit.hqx
Date: Thu, 25 Jun 92 9:17:59 GMT
Ivar 1.0.1
Ivar is a program to play sounds over a network. To use it,
install the Ivar extension on the target machine and reboot.
Then find a convienient Mac nearby and wait for an innocent
victim. When he/she is busy working run the Ivar application
and surprise him/her with a few well chosen noises.
I have found the sounds "Sally in restaurant", "Mary dismebered
and screaming" and "Does not compute" to be very effective :-)
Changs in version 1.0.1:
Fixed a very stupid bug that caused Ivar to refuse to run
under System 7.0.1
#### BINHEX lemur-20.hqx ****
Date: Mon, 13 Apr 92 14:28:14 -0500
From: William Walker <walker@cs.uiuc.edu>
Subject: Lemur 2.0
This is the README file for Lemur 2.0 from the CERL Sound Group.
Lemur was written by Kelly Fitz and Bill Walker at the University of
Illinois CERL Sound Group.
Lemur is based on MQAN, a tool written by Rob Maher and Jim Beauchamp
at the Computer Music Project of the University of Illinois School of Music.
Lemur is a sinusoidal analysis and synthesis program based on the
McAulay-Quatieri technique. It analyzes AIFF sample files to produce
an intermediate representation (a Lemur analysis file), and uses these analysis
files to synthesize AIFF sample files. Time scaling, frequency scaling, and
frequency shifting are possible.
If you obtain Lemur, please send electronic mail to k-fitz@uiuc.edu or
walker@cs.uiuc.edu. We would appreciate hearing from you!
This version should replace all previous versions of Lemur.
lemur-20.sit.hqx is a BinHexed Compactor archive containing the Lemur program,
a brief manual, and some AIFF sample files.

From: His Divine Grace <Rod.Kennedy@faceng.anu.edu.au>
(imperfection in earlier Ulaw 1.1 fixed)
This is an update on a recent submission. Ulaw 1.1 now
converts in both directions ie Mac snd <-> Sun Ulaw.
It should run on machine without color Quickdraw and also
under System 6.0.7 but preferrably System 7. See included
ReadMe file.
It belongs in the sound utilities archive area.
It was mac-to-sun-ulaw.hqx on sumex but now
mac<->sun-ulaw11.hqx is a better name; the actual application
is called "Ulaw 1.1"
On umich make it mac<->sun-ulaw11.cpt.hqx.
Freeware but I'd like comments, suggestions and abuse.

ÑA real-time display of key velocities, pressure or control values with
peak, average and histogram modes.
ÑA trace buffer with symbolic message display.
ÑA programmable data matcher for triggering the trace buffer.

This program has been placed into the Public Domain by Kurzweil Music
Systems, Inc. As such, it may be distributed freely as long as (a) this
documentation and the attached registration form are included in the
distribution and (b) any identification and copyright notices contained
within the application file itself are unaltered.
This software is not for sale!

Mono2Stereo 1.0
by Alberto Ricci
Freeware
What Mono2Stereo does is very simple: it takes two mono sounds and
merges them into one stereo sound. Just open the left and right sounds
with the "Open..." command in the File menu, then choose "Save As...".
If youUve got a stereo-capable Mac, which either mixes the left and
right channels into one mono channel (Mac LC) or outputs true stereo
from the speaker port (Mac IIs and Quadras), youUll be able to play the
sound just by double-clicking the sound file in the Finder.
(Mono2Stereo requires System 7.0 or later).

PianoSim 1.1:
Due to many people's request, I rewrite the interface in the current version1.1,
for the macs with 9" B/W monitor, without the requirement of color QuickDraw (version 1.0 requires that to run). I also fix a major bug in this release.
The version 1.1 use new icons for the application, please rebuilt desktop
(hold down Option+Command while restart your mac) to use the new icons.
I am going to make PianoSim a very well maintained program, please support
me by sending your registration fee ($25 is really nothing compared with how
much a commercial music program charges). Your help will be very appreciated.

PianoSim introduction:
Here is a new software called PianoSim I created for the Macintosh. It's
a music instrument simulation with full music input and edit ability. You
can use mouse click (sweep) or keystroke to play music real time. You can
choose your favorite instrument from a panel of choices, including piano,
bell, flute, guitar, sax... You can record your performance in real time
and save it as a file for future playback. The software has a full featured
editor, so you can edit and modify your performance. You can also just input
your favorite music and save it as a record, for future playback and
entertainment. The time duration of each note is accurate up to one tick
(1/60 sec), the music symbol shown doesn't change the exact time duration
embedded. You can control sound volume, play back speed (tempo), and pitch
of all the piano keys within two octave. You can personalize your
computerkey-pianokey correspondence and save your setting.
Several of my favorite music is provided, including Fur Elise, love story,
and a few Christmas carols. If you enter your favorite records, I'd love
to have a copy if you are willing to offer (if you don't like the record
to be included in future updates, please say so, I will honor your request).
The software can be fun for adult as well as for child. I'd be very happy
to know if you like it and have a good time with it.
PianoSim is distributed as shareware, and ask for $25 shareware fee. But
if you REALLY couldn't afford it, send me any amount you prefer. By sending
me your donation, you are helping me to obtain enough resource and
encouragement to write better software for the Macintosh. Your help will be
very apprecaited. Registered user will receive a Thank You letter together
with registration code to personalize your copy, and receive any future
updates free. Please only distribute unregistered copies.
PianoSim is tested on MacSE, Classic, II, IIcx, IIx, IIsi, IIci, IIfx, Quadra,
under system 7 and 6.0.4 up. Any bug reports, suggestions, comments, etc.
are all welcome. Thank you for your time and hope you have fun with PianoSim.
I am currently looking for a mac programming position (I am a Univ. of
Chicago graduate student getting my degree), if you have a job offer or
any information that may help, please contact me. I also wrote a game
for Macintosh called SpaceInvader!, which can be downloaded from
sumex.stanford.edu under info-mac/game directory. Have a try if you like games.

CD player) gets played through the Mac's speaker or headphone
jack.
