- EXTRACTING HYPERSHELL
- =====================
- COPY THE SUPPLIED DISK TO A NEW DISK AND PUT THE ORIGINAL SOMEWHERE SAFE.
- WORK WITH THE COPIED DISK!
-
- The LZH files are compressed 'archives' which means that you will have
- to 'extract' them as normal files before you can use them.
-
- The files may be extracted from the archives using the LHARC utility
- supplied. This allows all or selected parts of an archive to be extracted,
- viewed or printed. To find out the instructions for LHARC, type:-
-
- A> LHARC
-
- To get a listing of what is in the archives, type:-
-
- A> LHARC V HSBASE
- A> LHARC V HSDEV
- A> LHARC V PDBITS
-
- If you have a single floppy and no hard disk, make a note of the (original)
- file sizes, ready for when you extract them.
-
- 2 floppies
- ----------
- Each archive extracts onto one floppy. e.g. Put blank formatted
- disk in B, HyperShell disk in A, change to B: and type:-
-
- B> A:LHARC x A:HSBASE
-
- B> A:LHARC x A:PDBITS
-
- put second blank disk in B: and type
-
- B> A:LHARC x A:HSDEV
-
- Hard disk
- ---------
- All archives can be extracted onto a directory on the hard disk. e.g.
-
- C> MKDIR HYPSHELL
- C> CD HYPSHELL
- C> A:LHARC x A:HSBASE
- C> A:LHARC x A:HSDEV
- C> A:LHARC x A:PDBITS
-
- 1 floppy and RAM disk
- ---------------------
- You can copy one archive and LHARC.EXE to
- the RAM disk, then extract to a blank formatted floppy. repeat
- for second archive etc.
-
- 1 floppy, no RAM disk
- ---------------------
- If you only have 256k, or don't have a RAM
- disk capability, you may still be able to get by if you copy the
- entire disk, then delete all archives but one from the copy, which will
- leave you room to extract a number of files from the archive.
- Repeat this until you have all the files extracted. Alternatively
- buy a second drive or a hard disk.
-
- RUNNING HYPERSHELL
- ==================
- To begin with, use the files from HSBASE.LZH. Ensure PATH and
- COMSPEC are set correctly, adjust contrast to show colours or
- intensity levels correctly, and try running :-
-
- HS MENU
-
- This will present a menu of options available to you. To start with,
- select the HS option to display the HyperShell introductory hyperfile
- to get you started on how to use HyperShell.
-
- DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE EXAMPLE HYPERFILE STRUCTURE - SETTING UP A
- SIMPLE HYPERFILE IS EXTREMELY EASY - READ THE TUTORIAL TO SEE HOW.
-
- The HyperShell system is a ShareWare product and you need to
- register if you intend using HyperShell to develop hyperfiles.
- The public domain utilities supplied do not need registration
- and can be freely copied and used.
-
- The file HSHELL.DOC gives brief product details, the shareware
- details and tells you how to register. If you register be sure
- to indicate that you have release 2.5, so that the next release
- is sent to you when it is available. If you copy this package,
- you must copy all files on both these disks.
