- This file contains information on trouble-shooting and system requirements.
- If you experience any problems with the software, please refer to this file
- first.
-
- I. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-
- Electranoid requires the following minimum configuration to function properly:
-
- Required:
-
- * MS-DOS version 4.0 or higher
- * 80386, or higher
- * 2 Meg RAM, or more
- * VGA
- * MS Compatible Mouse
- * An expanded memory driver (EMM386, etc.)
- * Hard Drive
-
- Optional:
-
- * Sound Blaster or Compatible card
-
- II. COMMAND LINE SWITCHES
-
- There are two command line switches that may be utilized with Electranoid.
- These are:
-
- /E- This disables the enemies during game play
- /S- This turns off monitor syncronization on game play
-
- You should only use these switches if Electranoid does not appear to be
- functioning smoothly during game play. Only those with slower model 386
- systems should have any interest in these switches. It is advisable to
- first try /E- switch. This will allow the game to function about twice as
- fast. The /S- switch turns off all monitor syncronization. This will cause
- the balls to become slightly "tuggy." However, on some laptop systems this
- may be needed.
-
- III. ERRORS AND PROBLEMS
-
- Should you experience any problems with Electanoid, please contact us
- immediately. You may refer to the ORDER.DOC file on information on contacting
- Pixel Painters directly.
-
- In case of any sudden unexplainable errors or lock-ups, it is advisable
- to reboot your system immediately. This does not include program generated
- "Critical Error" messages. The "Critical Error" messages are provided by
- the program as a safeguard against lock-ups and problems. It is usually not
- neccessary to reboot after one of these messages.
-
- IV. COMMON CRITICAL ERROR MESSAGES
-
- The most common critical error messages that you may encounter deal with
- the Mouse, EMM driver, and Base RAM.
-
- MOUSE - You need to make sure that you have preloaded your MOUSE.COM
- driver program.
- EMM - This software requires the use of an EMM driver. You may
- refer to your DOS manual on information on installing your
- EMM driver properly. This program requires at least 1 Meg
- of available EMM memory.
- B.RAM - Electranoid requires 480K of available base RAM. If you
- do not have enough base RAM to run the program, a critical
- error message will prompt you to this effect. You may refer
- to your DOS manual on how to load TSR's into upper memory.
- This is one way to free up more base RAM.
-
- V. WINDOWS AND DISK-CACHE SOFTWARE
-
- In short, do not run this program from Windows or any other multi-tasking
- environment. While this program will work properly with most disk cache
- software, on certain BIOS's, when combined with disk caching, the program
- may experience lock-ups.
