  2. {7}legendary proportions.  A name
  3. {7}that strikes fear into the
  4. {7}hearts of monsters everywhere
  5. {7}today.  But lets take a look at
  6. {7}how this legend came to be...
  7.  
  8.  
  9. It was a sleepless night.  A
  10. night like Johnny had never seen
  11. in his short ten years (of which
  12. the first three or four were
  13. {Svisa,2}       rather fuzzy).  A storm
  14.        of supernatural propor-
  15.        tions had blown into
  16.        town.  When the lightning
  17.        flashed and showered the
  18.        sky with illumination, he
  19. could swear he saw figures that
  20. were not quite human atop the
  21. distant hill.  Something strange
  22. was happening.   {Svisa,3}

  31. Johnny's thoughts turned to Tex.
  32. His new Dalmatian puppy had been
  33. missing for two days.  He had
  34. found what was left of Tex's
  35. collar still attached to the
  36. chain in his back yard.  He
  37. hoped Tex was okay out there on
  38. a night like this.
  39.  
  40. The storm suddenly got worse.
  41. In a flurry of pajama feet he
  42. leapt for the covers of his bed 
  43. that had on many occasions been 
  44. his shelter.
  45.  
  46. But not tonight.
  47.  
  48. He was a split second  {Svisa,4}
  49. away from hitting the
  50. covers when he felt
  51. something hairy grab
  52. his leg and jerk him
  53. down with an unnatural
  54. force.  The next thing he knew
  55. he was UNDER his bed looking at
  56. a pair of gleaming green eyes.

  64. But strangely, something about
  65. the eyes calmed him.

  73. {11}"Who, who, WHAT are you?",
  74. Johnny stuttered under his
  75. breath, more to himself than to
  76. the eyes.

  84. {10}"My name and WHAT I am is not
  85. {10}important,"{14} the voice
  86. responded, {10}"What is important
  87. {10}is that you must take action,
  88. {10}and take it now if you who live
  89. {10}in the Day World are to survive
  90. {10}another cycle of the moon."

  92. {10}"Tex did not run away.",{14} the
  93. eyes stared, {10}"He was kidnapped!"
  94.

  96. {Svisa,5}       {11}"Who did this!"{14}, Johnny
  97.        cried as he forgot about
  98.        being scared and his rage
  99.        built inside.  {11}"If it was
  100.        {11}that Jungle Jill girl
  101.        {11}down the street, I'll
  102.        {11}kick her butt again!"

  105. {10}"Listen carefully,"       {Svisa,6}
  106. the voice calmly spoke.
  107. {10}"The evil Count Chuck,
  108. {10}ruler of the Under World
  109. {10}has been preparing an
  110. {10}army to take over the
  111. {10}Day World.  He is
  112. {10}sending his henchmen into the
  113. {10}Day World to steal many dogs
  114. {10}and cats.  His plan is to
  115. {10}transform these pets into
  116. {10}monsters that will do his
  117. {10}bidding.  Johnny, Chuck knows
  118. {10}that you have the greatest love
  119. {10}of all for your pet, so he has
  120. {10}hidden Tex in his own lair.  The
  121. {10}only person with love enough to
  122. {10}free your Tex and all the other
  123. {10}pets of the world is you,
  124. {10}Johnny.  Before this storm is
  125. {10}over and the portal is closed
  126. {10}you must go to Under World and
  127. {10}stop Chuck."

  135. {11}"But how do I get there and how
  136. {11}will I fight off the monsters?"
  137. asked Johnny.
  138.  
  139. The large green eyes looked
  140. toward your closet door.  Then
  141. an old wooden sling shot and a
  142. small rock appeared before you.

  150. {10}"Take these,"{14} commanded the
  151. voice.  {10}"Place this rock in your
  152. {10}pajama pocket and your pocket
  153. {10}will never go empty."

  162. {11}"But, but...",{14} stammered Johnny.

  165. {10}"Enough talk!"{14}, the voice {Svisa,6}
  166. growled,  {10}"You will find
  167. {10}a furry friend, Mr. Lloyd,
  168. {10}along the way who comes
  169. {10}and goes at will through
  170. {10}the Under World and the
  171. {10}Day World.  Go now and make
  172. {10}haste!  The storm is already
  173. {10}fading!"

  175. Then the eyes blinked themselves
  176. out of existence.

  179. {Svisa,5}      Johnny, mad as heck
  180.       about Tex and the other
  181.       pets, launched himself
  182.       through the closet door,
  183.       and into an adventure
  184.       he'll never forget...
