 It is the year 2100 A.D.
 Earth has sent a small spacecraft into the far depths of
space to explore. While studying a planet in a far off, uncharted
solar system, the humans were awed by an amazing find. On the
planet below were three advancing alien tribes. Each of the
alien tribes valued a different attribute, one power, one
learning, and one pleasure. While the humans aboard their great
starship buzzed about their discovery, a scientific experiment
went awry and exploded, killing all the scientists and blasting
the ship into five pieces. Three pieces landed near the alien
tribes, who erected cities around them. A fourth piece landed
in an unknown location. The rest of the ship crashed, killing
most of the humans remaining. When the military captian, General
Blake took command, most of the humans peacefully left. You,
as Gen. Blake, must recapture the pieces of your ship and return
your people to Earth!!

Notes for Canada vs. Quebec scenario for Civilization II
By Venice Holmes, Jr.

Hello. Thank you for trying out my scenario. I hope it will bring you
many hours of enjoyment. Please take a few minutes to read these notes
as they will help you understand the game and the thinking behind it:

1. Sorry about the map. The isometric view is no big deal to play on,
but it's definitely harder to design a map for. And the map is all
grassland and ocean because I didn't want to spend the multiple tedious
hours it would have taken to put in the hills, tundra, forest, etc.

2. I didn't set the victory conditions through the scenario itself
because the game isn't really capable of what I need. Anyway, the victory
conditions are as follows:

For CANADA, a DECISIVE VICTORY means driving Quebec off the face of the
earth. A MARGINAL VICTORY involves capturing at least 3 Quebec cities,
including Quebec and/or Montreal. A MARGINAL DEFEAT involves capturing
at least one Quebec city. Capturing no Quebec cities means a DECISIVE
DEFEAT.

For QUEBEC, a DECISIVE VICTORY means hanging on to all Quebec cities, and
capturing at least one city from Canada. A MARGINAL VICTORY means hanging
on to all Quebec cities, period. A MARGINAL DEFEAT means hanging on to
at least 4 Quebec cities, including Quebec and/or Montreal. Of course,
being wiped off the face of the earth is a DECISIVE DEFEAT.

For THE UNITED STATES, they get whatever victory condition of the side that
they take. If they fail to take a side, it is considered a DECISIVE DEFEAT.

3. The scenario lasts 60 turns, and the turns are one month each.

4. The map is flat, and no country can change their government. Sorry,
Fundamentalism fans.

5. Keep in mind that the Americans' words are BACKED WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
and the others aren't (yet).

6. The scenario is balanced for King level. Playing at any other level
may produce unintended results.

7. Standard disclaimer: Every name in this scenario is used fictiously
and may not be representative of the armed forces and/or attitudes of
the particular cities, persons, or countries.

BONUS - If this scenario as written is too easy for you, you might want
to try to take over the USA. I make but two requests - 1) No cheating and
2) You must play at King level or higher. If you can do this, send me a
message at VLHolmes@aol.com with "I CONQUERED THE USA!!" as the subject,
and tell me how you did it.

Thank you for your time. Now go out and squash those separatists.

On April 19, 1775, the "Shot heard 'round the World" was fired as the first
battle of the American Revolution took place in Lexington and Concord,
Massachusetts. The war finally ended on September 3, 1783, when
Great Britain and the newly formed United States of America signed the
Treaty of Paris, in Paris, France. With the help of the French, Spanish,
and Dutch, the colonists overcame huge odds to defeat the British forces,
and began the decline of the world's most powerful empire. Your objective:
Convince the French, Spanish, and Dutch to become allies with the colonists
and defeat the British armies. You have until 1785. Good Luck!

TAIWAN=megaciv2\TAIWAN
@SCENARIO

@title=%STRING0
^^Length: %STRING1 to %STRING2
 In 1949, after the Peoples Republic of China was formed by Chairman
Mao Tse-Tung, Chiang Kai-Shek and his nationalists fled mainland China to
live on the island of Taiwan, located southeast of China. Since then,
the People's Republic of China has considered the the citizens and their
democratic government that of a "renegade province." In the past, both
governments agreed that their final goal was re-unification. However, in
recent years, Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui has been rumored to favor
independence from the Chinese in light of Taiwan's booming economy and
increasing position on the world scene. Infuriating China by visiting his
alma mater in the United States, Lee is up for re-election in 1996. The
Communist Chinese government, led by Deng Xiaoping, began military
manuevers in the Straits of Taiwan in order to sway the election results in
the favor of a more conservative candidate. In response to the alarm
of their allies the Japanese, Taiwanese, and Filipinos, the United States
has put the Seventh Fleet of the Navy on alert and has ordered the battle
group of the USS Independence to Taiwan. This American "gunboat diplomacy"
increased Beijing's anger, and word of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan began
to circulate. Your job -- to assure the safety of Japan, the Phillipines,
and Taiwan, and to reassert the power of the United States in Asia.
Be Warned -- Both China and the United States posess NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Good
Luck!

TEXAS=megaciv2\TEXAS
@SCENARIO
@width=550
@title=%STRING0
^^Length: %STRING1 to %STRING2
The Texas revolution started as a small-scale protest over Mexican General
Santa Anna's refusal to enforce the Mexican constitution of 1824. By March
1836, it had grown into a full fledged revolution that threatened to bring
the US and the British into the fray. This scenario picks up the action
at the battle of the Alamo. The Texan objective is to survive the
onslaught and then develop their nation. The Mexican objective is to
recapture the renegade Texan state and protect their other Western
territories from colonization. The American objective is to expand
westward and tame the wild west, war if necessary. The British objective
is to hold colonial possessions already in hand, and expand if possible.
Watch out for the Indians on the prowl....(they are the barbarians in
this scenario).

 This level is Starbase I, my first solid D2 level. The story:
you are assigned a mission to Alpha Centauri to attack on an alien base
and free the two captive miners.

You begin at the insertion point; begin to battle immediately. Down one

Hint: to open the door in the ceiling near the start, shoot the blow door

There are a few problems with texture alignment despite my intense work on

COASTMOD=MEGANFS\tracks\COASTMOD
This is a modification of all three segments of the coastal track. The
track still maintains much of its "personality", but the tight curves
have been opened up a bit to make the track much faster.

Segment 1:
 Added three nice tight turns to the urban portion. The first is a 180
to the right which can be taken fairly quick. the second and third are
two quick 90 degree lefts with enough space in between to get you in
trouble if you're not carefull. The rest of the segment has no major
changes except that the bends are wider to allow greater speeds.

Segment 2:
 Opened up the bends to speed things up, and added some downward
slope at the balloons for acceleration. There is now a straight run
between the two tunnels were there were once winding 'S' curves, but I
left the dips in the road so you can get plenty of air time.

Segment 3:
 Again, opened up the tight curves to allow more speed, but still left
them tight enough for a good challenge. No major alterations to this
segment.

Enjoy,

AHOP=MEGANFS\mission\AHOP
Good Day !

I have created six missions for use with USMF or USNF with the add any plane utility.

The missions are designed to be especially challenging in that most of the missions are
non-standard aircraft. Furthermore, each includes a brief tutorial on how to fly the
aircraft. A difficulty rating is given at the beginning of each mission, (very subjective)
as to how hard each aircraft is to fly.

The missions are designed to be as realistic as possible, (A B52 actually crashes in
front of the SH-60 in AHOP4).

The missions include:
AHOP1- High Altitude BARCAP (F-14)
AHOP2- KC-135 Refueling Mission (KC-135)
AHOP3- B-52H Cruise Missile Mission (B-52H)
AHOP4- SH-60 Search and Rescue Mission (SH-60)
AHOP5- Get refueled by a KC-135 (F/A 18)
AHOP6- A10 Close air support mission (A-10)

Note: USMF uses a B-52H not "G" as reported in the program info.

I will be pleased to create more mission if these are well received.

Arab-Israeli War '98
by Fourth Horseman

This is my first mini-campaign for Jane's Advanced Tactical Fighters. It is a hypothetical Arab-Israeli war set +in 1998.

The 10 missions of this campaign put you as a USAF F-22 pilot deployed to Israel to assist our ally in +defending their nation from Syrian and Jordanian forces. It might be sort of unrealistic to assume that the +USAF would be involved in a war like this

The campaign features several different types of missions, but its mostly air-to-air work, covering other +aircraft on ground attack missions, etc.

To play, simply unZip all the included files (*.M and *.MT files) into your ATF directory. You can access +them for play from the "Play Single Mission" option in ATF.

I welcome all comments and suggestions!

C.I.S. Frontal Aviation Fighters:
A SHATTERED PEACE
a tour of duty, Part One
by Plato Mok

[this is part one of a ongoing series, which will hopefully continue, support and schedule willing.]

ok, here's the short version of the intro:
In this set of missions you will be flying on the Russian side, more or
less in the same campaign as the original USNF Ukraine 1997 missions.
So instead of flying for the U.S., you now fly for Russia, a member of
the CIS--that means Ukraine and its allies are the enemy. You will be
flying assorted Soviet-made aircraft in the Russian inventory, and
face assorted enemies who will be flying both Russian- and American-made
aircraft.

Requirements: Electronic Art's USNF
 David C. Maschino's USNFPL or other "fly any plane" utility

*** important notes ***
1) In order to play the missions which allow you to fly the Russian aircraft
other than the Su-33, you will need to use a "fly any plane" utility for
USNF such as David C. Maschino's USNFPL, otherwise your game will crash
or not work. I haven't tried any other utilities other than USNFPL that
might exist to do this, so I can only recommend this one.

2) Note that you are playing the Red (Enemy) side, and your adversary is Blue (Friendly). Thanks to Bart +Kamps for the inspiration to swap colors.

3) USNF does not include full fledged support for this kind of side-change,
so you'll have to bear with some quirks. Use the American Mk iron bombs if
you're required to carry iron bombs, use American fuel tanks if necessary,
etc. If you want to play "fair" or "authentic" you should stick to the
realistic weapons choices as much as possible, i.e. no AMRAAMS on Russian
aircraft, use AA-8's and AA-11's, not Sidewinders, etc., etc. But hey, it's
a free country and you can do as you please, this is just a suggestion for
the most enjoyment/challenge out of these missions.

4) These missions were tested on v1.0 of USNF, I assume they will work also
with v1.1, and any other future version. I had upgraded to v1.1 but decided
to reinstall back to v1.0 because the upgrade did nothing much for me but
lower my frame rate! Update: I have tested some, but not all of the missions after upgrading to U.S. Marine +Fighters v1.2, and they seem to be working just fine. Let me know if you see anything wrong that I missed.

ok, here's the long version of the intro:

DATE : Feb 1997

SITUATION

 Ever since the collapse of the USSR and the end of the Cold
War in 1989, economic conditions in the former Soviet republics have
steadily worsened as citizens who lived under socialism for decades
struggled to adjust to capitalism. In the early months of 1997,
democratic elections brought an overwhelming call for a return to
hard-line Communism, and Boris Yeltsin and his failed capitalist
regime were ousted from power. Yet the Ukraine, heavily influenced
by Western Europe, remains loyal to Yeltsin and refuses to recognize
the newly elected government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
 The Ukrainian rebels seek to violently overthrow the
democratically elected Communist Party and secede Ukraine from the CIS.
In the last few weeks several public buildings have been bombed by the
rebels, causing the deaths of many innocent civilians, and a
horrifying number of injuries.
 The CIS Council of Ministers has vehemently condemned the
actions of the so-called "democratic liberation movement" as nothing
more than cowardly terrorism. The remaining states within the CIS
have all pledged their resources to combat the insurgent movement
within the Ukraine. Unfortunately the United States, misled by
incompetent leadership and carefully crafted propaganda from the
rebels, has found itself backing Ukraine.
 The CIS has warned the U.S. that interference in this civil
rebellion would not be tolerated. The U.S. is trying to rally
together a coalition of UN forces as a "peacekeeping force", but so
far the U.S. has not been able to raise much support within the UN.
 CIS leadership plans for ground and air forces to cross the
Ukrainian border and secure Ukraine. The plan is to eliminate
the rebel forces quickly and restore peace and order to the
Ukraine.
 Matters have been complicated by the presence of an American
Carrier Group, consisting of the USS Eisenhower and several escort
ships. The group has entered the Black Sea despite the protests of
the CIS Council and it looks like they won't be leaving soon.

YOUR ROLE

 You will be playing the role of one of the CIS's finest jet
fighter pilots, serving in Russian Frontal Aviation. You've
flown virtually every Soviet-made fighter still in the military's
inventory, and earned quite a reputation as a feared and skilled
aviator from your tour of duty in the Bosnian Escalated Conflict
back in '95. For the last year and a half you've been training new
Russian cadets in fighters such as the Su33, the MiG29, and the MiG21.
 With the situation in the Black Sea quickly escalating into
a serious crisis, your superiors have brought your squadron to near
full-alert in the event hostilities break out. It is expected that
your squadron will be providing air support for Russian ground forces
when they move into Ukraine.
[You'll also be moving around a lot, flying whatever you have at hand.
The campaign in USNF more or less assumed you were the same pilot flying
all these missions (albeit unrealistically flying several different
aircraft while real pilots stick to one bird), and so will this set of
missions. You'll be one busy guy hopping all over the map to fly some
radically different aircraft, constantly following those pesky Americans
wherever they go. Think of it as a personal vow or mission to stop each
and every attack or action done by the USS Eisenhower.]

Science, and is currently enrolled in Law School at Santa Clara University, CA, where he will have virtually no life but studying. Well, maybe just a few flight sessions here and there :)

CIS-P01.ZIP
a collection of missions for
Electronic Art's U.S. Navy Fighters (v1.0 / v1.1 / v1.2)

Hi! These missions (w/ mission briefings) are made for use with a "Fly any
Plane" utility for USNF such as David C. Maschino's excellent USNFPL
(available for v1.0 or v1.1), and won't work without them.
In this collection you'll fly...

CISFAF: A Shattered Peace, Part One - a 7 mission tour of duty.
the original story has been rewritten a bit and definitely fattened up so I apologize for the excess verbiage (call +it enthusiasm for the subject).

in addition I include two bonus missions that originally came with missions 1 and 2 of the first CIS preview:
an A-10 for the U.S. Army in Ukraine!*
an A-6 for the U.S. Navy in Vietnam!

* OpticsDude pointed out to me that it is the USAF and not the Army that typically fly the A-10, so yes, I +screwed that up. But hey, just go with the "suspension of disbelief" thing and humor me, ok? :) The A-10 +mission became infamous on AOL because

Many thanks to David Maschino a.k.a. "Raider of the Lost Aircraft" for making
it possible for anyone to fly the many aircraft of USNF. Also thanks to the
guys at the USNF message area of the PC Games/Flight Sims message board on
America Online for technical help, suggestions, and inspiration!

Unzip all the files into your USNF directory, and the missions will be made
available to you in the Play Single Mission menu, complete with briefings,
maps, and plane arming screens. Note that the plane selection screen has
been disabled so that you fly only the plane the mission calls for.
The missions can be found under the names:

U.S. Army Fighters - CAS in an A-10
U.S. Vietnam Fighters - A6 Dual Strike

The CIS missions will all start with the title:
CIS xx
where xx is the mission number; easy, huh?

Suggestions for play:
- Many of us at the AOL USNF area have found it more accurate and comfortable
to fly at the -33% cockpit view magnification (hit "-" twice while in the
cockpit). Bless the guys at EA, who have finally made it remember this setting,
because you used to have to do it each time you start flying.
- For maximum realism/play value I recommend you stick to the weapons that are
recommended in each mission, even if better/more advanced weapons are made
available in the arming screen. Like using AMRAAMs on a MiG-31, now that's
not too realistic. I know Russian weapons aren't that reliable, but hey,
that's part of life being on the Russian side, make do!
- if you have difficulty finishing a mission properly there's a hint on the
mission failure screen on how to succeed, so take note of it and try again...
- for the CIS missions, make sure you have read the CIS.TXT file so that you
understand what's going on.

thanks for checking these missions out! let me know what you think of them,
and I'll know better what to work on in the future...

US Navy Fighters CAMPAIGN JS1
Jim Sutton
jsutton@scic.intel.com

Some months ago, I began playing with the ProMission Creator. At first,
it was just harmless experimentation - you know, just to see what kinds
of challenging situations I could create. I only had a few special
effects I wanted to achieve, and those could easily be done in just a
few missions.

Somhow, each mission seemed to lead to yet another new idea, another
new situation, another "but what happens next", ... another mission.
Before I knew it, I was building a full campaign.

 Hello, my name is Jim, and I'm a ProMission Creator addict.
 [Hello, Jim.]

After months of thoroughly enjoyable development, I've completed the
first 16 missions in a campaign that appears headed for at least 25
missions. Unfortunately, finishing the campaign is likely to take a few
more months, so I'm releasing what I've completed so far. (Surprisingly,
its *hard* to do this! I keep finding little tweaks just begging to be
made.)

INSTALLATION AND USE
--------------------
1- Unzip the js1.zip file into your USNF directory.
 This will produce a number of files with the naming convention:
 js1*.*
2- From the top screen in USNF, select the "Play Single Mission" screen.
3- Proceed to the missions labeled "JS1-##: ..."
 (Note: typing a 'j' will take you directly there.)

All files follow a consistent naming convention (js1*.*), and hopefully
won't over-write any of your own mission files.

All missions have detailed mission briefings, including both the strategic
situation (big picture) and tactical situation (your part of the picture),
as well as detailed analysis and advice in the Mission Failure debrief.

Following is a description of the campaign's context, and a brief
description of the missions included to date.

Comments welcome.

---------------------------------
INITIAL CONDITIONS

Several months ago, economic hardships brought about the ouster
of Yeltsin and many of the moderates in the Russian government.
However, the hardliners did *not* announce a return to Communism,
nor did they show an aggressive posture toward former Soviet client
states. Instead, they focused their attention on internal conditions,
instituting limited rollbacks of democratic processes and rights,
claiming those changes would provide greater economic stability.

This approach left both the Western community and the former Soviet
clients with little justification for interference. All parties
adopted policies of cautious criticism, but no overt action;
essentially a "wait-and-see" attitude.

Since the change, the Russian economy has actually appeared to
improve slightly, defusing some of the criticism from the Russian
people themselves. All this served to lull outside observers, and
the Russian hardliners capitilized on that unpreparedness.

Last week, the new Russian government declared that assets and
resources located in former Soviet clients, but developed with
Soviet investment, are rightfully co-owned by Russia. To enforce
that claim, the Russian government annexed a strip of Ukrainian
territory approximately 100mi wide along the Russian/Ukrainian
border. Russian military units seized control of all Ukrainian
airbases and military installations within that buffer zone,
albeit with remarkably little loss of life.

Russia then declared this to be a "joint economic zone", with
resources being shared by both Russia and Ukraine. The Russian
government would provide interim management of these resources
until an impartial management body can be installed, with
representatives agreed upon by both governments.

The Ukrainians are, understandably, underwelmed. They have called
on the US to honor its defense treaties, and to push the Russians
back across the border. The President is waffling, and negotiators
have been sent to try and develop a peaceful solution, but it is
apparent that hostilities are a real possibility.

The Eisenhower, as the nearest carrier group, has been ordered to
proceed from the Med into the Black Sea. No other USN units can
be expected for several weeks. Due to downsizing, much of the
once formidable USAF resources along the Med/Turkish area have
been reassigned or mothballed. Little support can be expected
there for days, or even weeks.

Much of the Ukrainian defense capabilities were stationed along
the Russian border, and have therefore fallen into Russian hands.
We can expect limited support from the remaining Ukrainian forces.

Complicating matters, a Russian carrier group is also in the Black
Sea, shadowing the Eisenhower at a range of 200+ nm. Frequent recon
flights approach within 50nm, but no nearer.

----------------------------------
CAMPAIGN SUMMARY (MINOR SPOILERS)

JS1-01: CALM BEFORE THE STORM
 day 1, 1130, clear
 Both fleets are well south of Crimea, on opposite sides of Black Sea,
 flying BARCAPs and recon patrols toward center of Black Sea. There
 has been an escalation of close passes, with some near misses. Fly a
 standard BARCAP. No shots have been fired, no hostilities declared.
 Therefore, you cannot fire unless fired upon. Even when fired upon,
 you can only target the specific bandits firing at you.

JS1-02: SNEAK ATTACK
 day 2, 1735, clear
 Russian bombers from Zaporizhzhya attack Simferopol & Khersan.
 Our fighters can't reach them in time to prevent the bombing of
 Simferopol, but should be able to prevent them from hitting Khersan
 *if* you run on afterburner most of the way and can get through
 the fighter escort quickly.

JS1-03: WATER WINGS
 day 3, 0450, pre-dawn
 Both fleets are still well south of the Crimean Penninsula. Pomornik
 ACVs are ferrying Russian troops across the Kerch Straits to attack
 and seize Simferopol. You must stop further troop landings, and sink
 all ACVs. You've got to worry about heavy SAM cover from the east bank
 of the straits, helicopter support over the ACVs, and fighters from
 the Russian carrier and Krasnador.

JS1-04: YAKKITY YAKS
 day 3, 1530, clear
 Yak-141s from the Russian carrier have been interfering with our CAPs
 and strikes, and threatening the Eisenhower. Fly MIGCAP across Russian
 fleet to eliminate fighters. Use F/A-18s to simulate a strike mission,
 and draw the fighters into the air.

JS1-05: CUT FROM THE HERD
 day 4, 0830, cloud cover
 The Russian fleet is making a run for the Kersh Straits & Sea of Azov.
 One of its missle cruisers was damaged in the previous mission when
 a Yak crashed on it, and can't keep up. It trails the fleet by 20-30nm,
 with escorting ships. Destroy the stragglers.

JS1-06: CHOKE POINT
 day 4, 1640, cloud cover
 A Russian armored unit is proceeding overland to reinforce the small
 detachment currently occupying Simferopol. Destroy all vehicles in the
 convoy (there are quite a number), without damaging any of the
 surrounding Ukrainian civilian assets.

JS1-07: INSERTION
 day 5, 0650, sunrise
 We need a forward base for the USAF, and also want to deny one to
 the Russians. Lead an F/A-18 strike attack on the Russian detachment
 at the Simferopol airbase, then fly a close MIGCAP to protect the
 Sikorskis landing Marines & Engineers to repair the airbase.

JS1-08: ESCORT
 day 6, 0900, cloud cover
 Simferopol has been repaired sufficiently to allow transports to land
 with additional repair material. C130s and tankers are inbound with
 troops and equipment. USAF fighters escorted them part of way, we
 finish the job.

JS1-09: EASTERN HAMMER
 day 6, 1545, cloud cover
 With Simferopol securely in US hands, we're ready to move into the
 Sea of Azov, but we face heavy defenses at and around the Kerch Straits.
 Step 1: fly a heavy MIGCAP over Krasnadar; destroy all fighters in the
 air or on the ground. Expect very heavy SAM defenses at the coast and
 around Krasnadar, hordes of fighters launched from Krasnadar, plus
 supporting fighters from northern airbases.

JS1-10: POP THE CORK
 day 7, 0700, sunrise, clear
 Step 2 in moving the Eisenhower into the Sea of Azov. Destroy the
 missle cruiser and destroyers blockading the Kerch Straits. Expect
 heavy SAM coverage from the ships and the east bank of the straits,
 plus support from Saranchas patrolling the coast and helicopters.

JS1-11: STRAIT-LACED WEASEL
 day 7, 1410, clear
 The final step in moving Eisenhower into Sea of Azov. Take out the SAM
 and AAA emplacements on the east bank of the straits, using a bi-level
 strike by two F/A-18 wings. A USAF A-10 wing from Simferopol follows
 close behind to destroy artillery emplacements along the coast.

JS1-12: BACK DOOR
 day 8, 0710, clear
 The US fleet is enterring the straits, where it is most vulnerable.
 A BARCAP out over the Sea of Azov runs into trouble, and calls for
 help. Some surprises.

JS1-13: BAR TWO
 day 8, 1610, clear
 The US fleet is nearly through the straits. The Russians are desparate,
 and abandon subtlety, launching a heavy, two-prong strike against the
 Eisenhower. You'll definitely end up winchester in this one, so pick
 your targets carefully.

JS1-14: SCRAP IRON
 day 9, 0940, clear
 While we've been occupied forcing our way into the Sea of Azov, the
 remains of the Russian fleet has been partially resupplied, and is
 again harrassing our CAPs and strikes. You lead a wing of F/A-18s
 to destroy the capital ships in their fleet. Two FORCAPs preceed you,
 but you'll still encounter very heavy resistance.

JS1-15: A LITTLE HELP FOR OUR FRIENDS
 day 10, 1525, cloud cover
 Defend a US armored division enroute to Zaporizhzhya, under attack
 from the air. This one winds up in a knife fight at low altitudes
 and thick cloud cover.

JS1-16: FRIEND FROM FOE
 day 11, 0815, clear
 US ground forces have advanced on Dnipropetrous'k. A fast-moving,
 pitched ground battle is in progress, with US and Russian armor
 intermingled. Provide CAS, take out the tanks.

Hopefully, more to follow.

Unzip and copy kuril01a.m and kuril0a.mt files into your \USNF directory.

This version of MAYDAY, EA's U.S. Marine Fighters Single Mission #1,
is upgraded to enhance my concept of 'realism'. In EA's original
mission, you have no communication with two pilots from another
squadron that will launch from your deck. Also, in the original
version, your wingman hesitates for about a minute before launching.

I felt it would be more realistic (and, of course, more achievable) if
all four pilots were in communication with each other and if all four
took off nearly simultaneously. (more)

This time, your three wingmen are already airborne and they are just
ahead of you. You were delayed briefly by trouble with your canopy
latch-down mechanism which was quickly resolved by your maintenance
officer.

The original threat has not changed. Call upon everything you've got
to complete this mission successfully.

Good Luck and Godspeed!

LandWar - Chapter 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A scenario for Electronic Arts' US Navy Fighters
 by
 Steven "Peregrin" Ouellette
 GrnGrnFlcn@aol.com
FINALLY!
A new group of missions designed to exploit the new-found ability to fly any
aircraft in Electronic Arts' US Navy Fighters!
-Tired of fighting those Fulcrums? How about driving one?
-Same old planes got you down? Try an Eagle, or maybe a Foxhound!
-Do tanks really bug you? Try hitting them in a Warthog!
This new set of twelve missions is the first chapter in LandWar, a new scenario
following the "dirtier" war.
If a Navy fighter pilot buys the farm, at least he has got a warm meal in his
belly and a decent night's sleep. But now, the Joint Chiefs think it would
be a good idea to capitalize on the tense situation in Ukraine and train an
elite group of pilots to be proficient in Navy, Air Force, and Russian
aircraft. Of course, this means you have to leave the Ike and hoof it to a
land base. Just like the brochures...travel, new people, new food. But did
you really count on war breaking out? No formal check out before flying a
new plane? Flying old bombers?
Now, you are only one step ahead of an advancing Russian juggernaught. Got
the guts to help the Ukrainian people defend their homeland?
HIGHLIGHTS
*An interesting storyline
Player's Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Copy the mission files (*.m) and mission text files (*.mt) to your USNF
directory. Play the missions from the Play Single Missions button, not
the Mission Builder.

The storyline will assume the appropriate characters and planes survive, so
try to keep 'em breathing!

Follow the directions in the misison explicitly Hey, if you have to cheat,
maybe you're not the hotshot pilot you thought you were...

Two more points. First, at MiG Eater1's suggestion, I play at -33%
magnification. This makes it less claustrophobic and is more realistic.
Second, there is a known bug with the flaps. When the flaps are down, the
Flight Path Indicator does not work accurate.

The only "payment" I require is that you give me feedback at the above
e-mail address. Things you liked, hated, thought were too hard or easy,
vegetarian recipies, whatever.

Feel free to copy this group of programs without charge as long as the
original files remain unaltered. (i.e. don't add your own "enhancements")

I hope you enjoy. Chapter 2 will be out as soon as I finish it!

 Well here it is, my first (and probably my last if my wife has
 any say of it) campaign: OPERATION SWIFT KICK for the finest
 commercially available flight sim (thus far), US Navy Fighters.
 It took me a few hours to do it (a few too many I should say) but
 it was fun. This mini campaign has a story line, time line and all.
 I spent most of my time in this tweaking the missions to a suitable
 difficulty level: hard (but not impossible!). Give it a shot...

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Unzip the *.m and *.mt files into your USNF directory.
2. Go into USNF and play these missions from the play single mission button.
 They will all be grouped together as Operation Swift Kick. If you don't
 see all 14 of these missions in there then you've probably got too many
 pro missions in your USNF directory (there is some sort of limitation as
 to how many missions can be displayed in the single missions list...21
 pages I think). If that is the case then simply move the other missions
 out of the USNF directory.
3. Go to town...waste 'em, wax 'em, do whatever it takes to accomplish the
 mission objectives. BUT...don't use any of the cheats! Cheating is for
 wimps! There is no room for wimps during Operation Swift Kick. AND...
 don't get killed! Fighter pilots are useless dead. Also, you don't want
 to wind up in the dreaded failed mission screen where you'll be cut down
 so low you'll have to pull down your socks to take a shit. But if you do
 wind up there don't take it personally if you get called a loser, or
 maggot, or jerky, or imbecile (even if you really are), this is all just
 in fun you know.

Nuff said....
ENJOY!
