  19. A) What's new?
  20. ==============
  21.    The installation of the OS/2 driver for SPEA V7 graphic boards has now
  22.    been simpified. In order to enable more comfortable use of the driver
  23.    under OS/2 we have included a new tool, V7SETOS2.
  24.    The installation is quite different to this previous description in the
  25.    manuals and README files.

  28. B) Properties of the Driver
  29. ===========================
  30.    This driver supports the following resolutions and color depth in the
  31.    OS/2 Workplace Shell and Win-OS/2 session:

  33.       640 * 480  * 256 colors
  34.       800 * 600  * 256 colors
  35.      1024 * 768  * 256 colors
  36.       640 * 480  * 64k colors
  37.       640 * 480  * 16M colors

  39. C) Requirements for Installation
  40. ================================
  41.    OS/2 has to be installed and runs with standard VGA driver or and older
  42.    BigBlue driver with the V7-VEGA PRO board in the OS/2 environment as
  43.    well.
  44.    Note: You may need the V7-VEGA PRO "Drivers for Windows" Disk for the
  45.    installation, depending on the installed Windows version.

  48. D) Installation of the OS/2 Drivers
  49. ===================================
  50. 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
  51.    Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy a name this disk "V7-VEGA PRO
  52.    BigBlue".
  53.    A disk label is NOT necessary any longer.
  54.  
  55. 2. Start OS/2.
  56.    Important: before beginning the installation shut down any running
  57.    OS/2 and Windows programs!
  58.    Open a fullscreen session or an OS/2 window. Put the disk labelled
  59.    "V7-VEGA PRO Drivers for OS/2" in drive A: and enter:
  60.       A:\V7SETOS2
  61.    (Only when floppy disk installation, does not apply to CD ROM install.)

  63.    Follow the instructions on the screen and if unsure at any point,
  64.    call the online help.
  65.  
  66.    After terminating the program and restarting OS/2 you have access to
  67.    the OS/2 desktop and seamless Windows with the BigBlue driver and
  68.    to MS Windows via the BigWin driver in the resolution and color depth
  69.    that you selected.

  71. Note:
  72.   - Before changing the graphics board (also if you want to install 
  73.     the same board type again) you have to reconfigure to standard 
  74.     VGA resolution and to repeat the software installation using the disks.
  75.  -  During the installation the screen will be remain black for some seconds.
  76.     In this time the system creates new PMI files, depending on the new board.

  79. E) Changing the resolution under OS/2 and Win-OS/2
  80. ==================================================
  81. After you have installed BigBlue a new folder named "SPEA/V7" will be
  82. created on your desktop with the V7SETOS2 program icon. After starting
  83. this program you can change the resolution or color depth before restarting
  84. your system to initialize the changes.

  87. F) Known Restrictions
  88. =====================
  89. Beta OS/2 versions:
  90.    This driver was originally developed for the OS/2 versions stated 
  91.    at the beginning of the README. Using this driver with the beta 
  92.    versions such as Warp 2.99 can cause problems.
