-
- A) What's new?
- ==============
- The installation of the OS/2 driver for SPEA V7 graphic boards has now
- been simpified. In order to enable more comfortable use of the driver
- under OS/2 we have included a new tool, V7SETOS2.
- The installation is quite different to this previous description in the
- manuals and README files.
- In addition, the driver has been complemented with HiColor and - according
- to the board and memory available - TrueColor capability.
-
-
- B) Properties of the Driver
- ===========================
- This driver supports the following resolutions and color depth in the
- OS/2 Workplace Shell:
- 640 * 480 * 256 colors
- 800 * 600 * 256 colors
- 1024 * 768 * 256 colors
- 1152 * 870 * 256 colors
- 1280 * 1024 * 256 colors
- 1536 * 1152 * 256 colors
- 640 * 480 * 64k colors
- 800 * 600 * 64k colors
- 1024 * 768 * 64k colors
- 1280 * 1024 * 64k colors (*)
- 640 * 480 * 16M colors (*)
- 800 * 600 * 16M colors (*)
- 1024 * 768 * 16M colors (*)
-
- (*) Seamless Windows and AVI file playback are not supported.
-
- The BigWin driver can be installed in the Windows Session in all available
- resolutions and also with color depth higher than 256 colors.
- Also if the BigWin is configured in another resolution than the OS/2
- environment it is possible to switch between both surfaces without
- any problems.
-
- C) Requirements for Installation
- ================================
- OS/2 has to be installed and runs with standard VGA driver or and older
- BigBlue driver with the V7-MERCURY PRO board in the OS/2 environment as
- well.
- Note: You need the V7-MERCURY PRO "Drivers for Windows" Disk for the
- installation.
-
-
- D) Installation of the OS/2 Drivers
- ===================================
- 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
- Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy a name this disk "V7-MERCURY PRO
- BigBlue".
- A disk label is NOT necessary any longer.
-
- 2. Start OS/2.
- Important: before beginning the installation shut down any running
- OS/2 and Windows programs!
- Open a fullscreen session or an OS/2 window. Put the disk labelled
- "V7-MERCURY PRO BigBlue" in drive A: and enter:
- A:\V7SETOS2
- (Only when floppy disk installation, does not apply to CD ROM install.)
-
- Follow the instructions on the screen and if unsure at any point,
- call the online help.
-
- After terminating the program and restarting OS/2 you have access to
- the OS/2 desktop and seamless Windows with the BigBlue driver and
- to Windows via the BigWin driver in the resolution and color depth
- that you selected.
-
-
- E) Changing the resolution under OS/2 or Win-OS/2
- =================================================
- After you have installed BigBlue a new folder named "SPEA/V7" will be
- created on your desktop with the V7SETOS2 program icon. After starting
- this program you can change the resolution or color depth before restarting
- your system to initialize the changes.
-
- Note the following if you wish to use a different resolution under Win-OS/2
- as opposed to the OS/2 desktop.
- 1. Deactivate the checkbox 'Use settings in Win-OS/2 fullscreen session'.
- 2. Start Win-OS/2. Select the options 'File' and 'Run' in the Program
- Manager. Then enter V7SETUP' without a path or drive. After starting
- the program make the changes for your Win-OS/2 session in the same
- way as under V7SETOS2.
-
- Note: V7SETUP for Windows can't be started as a seamless window
- application.
-
- F) Known Restrictions
- =====================
- Videoplayer:
- If you change to a fullscreen session whilst running a video then text
- will be displayed in black on blak. Switching from digital video to
- fullscreen windows can cause the system to crash.
-
- SPtune:
- User modes (tuned modes) are currently not supported. They are not shown
- in V7SETOS2 but are used and running if set under SPtune.
