- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.1. Summary about V7Setup ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- V7Setup is a comfortable configuration utility for SPEA Software AG's OS/2
- driver software.
- The menu is virtually self-explanatory although this online help may give you
- useful or important tips and information which you might otherwise not have
- had.
- Note that if you are using WIN-0S/2 fullscreen sessions that the appearance and
- configuration of these is handled by the V7SETUP menu you install and call
- there (exception: if you have activated the option 'Use same settings in
- WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session' in the V7setup menu).
- Note:
- The installation of a secondary monitor is currently not supported with this
- driver version.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2. Change the Settings ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- o Colours setting
-
- o Resolution setting
-
- o Refresh rate setting
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2.1. Colours ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Allows you to select the maximum number of colours that can be simultaneously
- displayed on your screen (currently 256, 65,356 or 'TrueColor' with 16.7
- million colours are supported).
-
- Changing this parameter may influence the resolution and refresh rate settings.
- If the current screen refresh rate is not available for the number of colours
- selected, then the program automatically uses the first entry from the
- corresponding selection box.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2.2. Resolution ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select the screen resolution with this setting.
-
- If more than one resolution is available, then use the arrow-down key to scroll
- through the modes for selection.
- Changing this parameter may influence the refresh rate selection.
- If the current screen refresh rate is not available for the current resolution,
- then the program automatically uses the first entry from the corresponding
- selection box.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2.3. Refresh rate ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- This setting determines the refresh rate of the display.
-
- If more than one refresh rate is available, use the arrow down key to scroll
- the rates for selection.
-
- The TEST button is only active if a SPEA V7 driver is already loaded and the
- selected refresh rate is possible for current video mode.
- The TEST button is deactivated if you change the colour depth or resolution.
-
- If you want to test the refresh rate:
- Click on the TEST button. After a short message on the screen you can start the
- test with the OK button. After this the screen refresh rate is changed and the
- test started.
-
- o Restore
- Click here or press the RETURN key to restore the previous refresh rate.
-
- o Keep
- Click here to retain the current refresh rate. You can also press the ESC
- key.
-
- Warning:
- If you permanently use a refresh rate that is too high for your monitor you may
- damage it! Read the manual of your monitor to check which refresh rates it can
- handle.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.3. Restart Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- You must restart OS/2 to activate your changes. To do this, select one of the
- following options in V7Setup:
-
- o Shut down and restart:
- Ends your current OS/2 session and restarts OS/2 using the new driver.
-
- o Shut down:
- Ends your current OS/2 session without restarting OS/2. The changes you have
- made will be activated when you start OS/2 again.
-
- o Don't shut down:
- Leaves V7Setup without ending the current OS/2 session. The changes you have
- made will be activated when you start OS/2 again.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.4. Use same settings in WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Use same settings in WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session
-
- This option can only be selected if you have installed WIN-OS/2.
-
- If this option is checked then the colour, resolution and refresh rate settings
- will be used in WIN-OS/2 fullscreen sessions.
- When installing for the first time you will need the disk labelled 'Drivers for
- Windows'.
- All the files are copied into your WIN-OS/2 directory.
-
- If you want to use the OS/2 settings (different colour depth or resolution) in
- a WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session, then proceed as follows:
-
- o Click on this option in order to install all the files required for WIN-OS/2
- fullscreen sessions.
- o After you have completed the installation, don't shut down your system.
- Instead start the V7setup menu again.
- o Deactivate the option and leave the menu again with OK and then shut down the
- system.
- o After starting OS/2 again, start a WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session.
- o Start the Program Manager and select File, Run. Enter V7SETUP to start the
- menu there.
- o Configure your WIN-OS/2 fullscreen session desktop with the menu.
-
