- -- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS --
-
- I recommend the following configuration for computers running this
- game:
-
- 386 or higher microprocessor
- Sound Blaster* or 100% compatible sound board
-
- The game will run without the above configurations, but a processor
- beneath a 386 will be unbearably slow to play the game with. Even
- a 386-25 user will have a difficult time playing the game.
-
- It's also almost imperative that you have a Sound Blaster since all
- the sound effects and music are generated through Sound Blaster's FM
- and DSP chip. Playing the game without the Sound Blaster will
- be like watching a movie without any sound. Basically, you
- won't know what the heck is going on in the game. I REALLY
- DON'T RECOMMEND THAT YOU RUN THIS GAME WITHOUT A SOUND CARD --
- IT WILL BE THE MOST HORRIBLE GAMING EXPERIENCE FOR ANY ONE.
-
- The following are REQUIREMENTS:
-
- Microsoft or compatible mouse
- SVGA card -- The following chip sets are supported:
-
- Ahead "A"
- Ahead "B"
- ATI 18800
- ATI 1800-1
- ATI 28800
- C&T 82c453
- GENOA 6000 SERIES
- OAK OTI-067
- PARADISE WD90C11
- TRIDENT 8900/9000
- TSENG ET3000
- TSENG ET4000
- VIDEO 7
- ANY VESA COMPATIBLE SVGAs
-
- Intel 80x86 chip or compatible
- MS-DOS 3.3 or higher or compatible
- 590K of FREE BASE MEMORY
-
- If the program crashes while you run it, it is probably because
- you DO NOT have one of the above requirements!

- --- INTRODUCTION ---
-
- DIGiBRAIN is an educational game created to sort of increase your
- cerebral activity level. What the game tries to do is to
- try to increase your memory and pattern recognition skills
- through three different types of games which forms the entire
- program. The game has animated characters and storyline
- appealing to children of all ages while also challenging enough
- brain cells for the adults to enjoy.
-
-
-
- --- STORYLINE ---
-
- The story of the game begins like this: the infamous Dr. Billy
- who roams around the computer universe of digital networks and
- binary numbers bullying around children who use computers by
- crashing their homeworks through Windows UAEs and the like, finds
- himself a new hobby: zapping innocent animals, creating the
- potential danger of destroying all species to the point of
- extinction.
-
- Our hero, DigiBoy steps in. He challenges Dr. Billy, demanding
- that Dr. Billy stop his evil conquests over the innocent
- creatures. Dr. Billy reluctantly offers a proposition: if
- Digiboy can pass his three high scores in each of the three
- memory games, then Dr. Billy will free the animals. Otherwise,
- all the animals in the world are going to be zapped. Digiboy
- takes on the challenge -- and you the player must help Digiboy
- defeat Dr. Billy by defeating Dr. B's high scores in each game
- field. And when you do -- Digiboy will once again save the world
- from global destruction.
-
- --- HOW TO PLAY THE GAME ---
-
- The three types of tests Digiboy must pass are:
-
- I. Animal Pattern
-
- In this game, Dr. Billy will point to an animal from the
- 3x3 grid, and Digiboy must point at the same animals in
- the same order following Dr. Billy's choices. (The
- process is analogous to the popular game Simon) One
- mistake and the animals will be zapped by Dr. Billy.
- Remember - only DIGIBOY and YOU can help save the animals!
-
- II. Animal Match
-
- In this game, Dr. Billy shows 8 different animals in
- pairs, and then conceals them behind pink boxes. YOU
- and DIGIBOY must find the exact pairs and match them
- together, while making no more than the number of mistakes
- that Dr. Billy demands!
-
- III. Animal Search
-
- Here, Dr. Billy shows almost a hundred different
- pictures of an animal in different poses. From all the
- different animals, YOU and DIGIBOY must find the one
- exact pose of the animal picture that Dr. Billy wants.
- Find the animal in the time given by Dr. Billy, and you win!
- Or else, succumb to Dr. Billy's destruction!
-
- -- HOW TO BEAT THE GAME --
-
- To beat the game, you must defeat Dr. Billy's high score in each
- game and then enter the SAME USER NAME upon completion when your
- name is asked by the computer. The computer determines how you won
- by looking up your name in the other high score entries to see if
- you have defeated Dr. Billy in other games. Therefore, stick with
- your name and don't make variations on your name's spelling.
- Just a reminder: the high score checker is not case sensitive, that
- is, it does not matter if you enter your name as "John Doe" or
- "john DOE" or whichever way you capitalize letters as long as the
- letters are same.
-
- -- SCORING SYSTEM --
-
- The game uses a different scoring system for each game.
-
- In ANIMAL PATTERN, each step you complete gives you 50 points.
-
- In ANIMAL MATCH, every time you make a match, you gain a certain
- number of points based on the level. Everytime you make a mistake,
- you lose 10 points. Every idle second you lose one point.
-
- In ANIMAL SEARCH, the score are calculated based on the # of
- tries and seconds left.
-
- -- DIFFICULTY LEVEL --
-
- There are three difficulty levels in DIGiBRAIN. The more difficult
- the level, the harder it is to play because less time will be given
- for a specific task.
-
- In ANIMAL PATTERN, the computer shows the steps at a faster pace
- than in the easier levels.
-
- In ANIMAL MATCH, you will have less time to memorize the animals and
- less tries to advance to the next level.
-
- In ANIMAL SEARCH, you will be given less time to find the animals and
- less tries to advance to the next round. Also, in the EXPERT level
- you will have to find the panda and the pig, which are more difficult
- to notice the differences in different frames than other characters.
-
- More points are given in higher levels.
-
- --- USER INTERFACE ---
-
- Operation is performed by a simple click and swirl of the mouse.
- Click in the boxes you desire in order to select different types
- of choices.
-
- If you want to exit a game in the middle, simply press ESC.
-
- Otherwise, everything else is pretty simple and straightforward.
