  10.      REQUIREMENTS

  12.      CANASTA requires the following equipment:
  13.  
  14.                          . IBM PC, XT, AT, or 100% compatible
  15.                          . DOS 3.0+ or later
  16.                          . Microsoft Compatible Mouse
  17.                          . VGA/EGA and color monitor
  18.                          . 720K Floppy or Hard Drive
  19.  
  20.      INSTALLATION
  21.  
  22.      For hard drive users, create a directory named Canasta as follows:

  24.                               C:\>MD CANASTA
  25.                               C:\>COPY A:*.* \CANASTA
  26.  
  27.      All files must be located in this directory.  The directory should be
  28.      included in the PATH Statement of your AUTOEXEC.BAT File which allows
  29.      you to run CANASTA from any directory.  Refer to your DOS manual for
  30.      details on the PATH Statement.  Floppy drive users can execute the
  31.      program from the CANASTA Diskette.

  34.      PRINTING THE MANUAL
  35.  
  36.      The file CANASTA.DOC has been preformatted for your printer.  Simply
  37.      turn your printer on and issue the command:

  39.                               C:>PRINT CANASTA.DOC
  40.  
  41.      It is extremely important for you to read the manual CANASTA.DOC before
  42.      starting the Game.  Chapter 1 discusses the Game Operation while
  43.      Chapter 2 presents the Rules of Canasta.  If you have never played
  44.      Canasta before, or have only a passing knowledge of the game, you will
  45.      need to read Chapter 2 before proceeding to Chapter 1: Game Operation.

  47.      While Canasta can be intimidating to the first-time player, reading the
  48.      rules in their entirety, will greatly ease your understanding of the game.
  49.      Even if you are familiar with partnership Canasta, you should at least
  50.      browse the Rules Chapter, observing the paragraph on Exceptions.

  52.      Once you have read Chapter 2 and have become acquainted with the basic
  53.      definitions, melds, and the "play" then proceed to the Chapter 1:
  54.      Game Operation.
