  14. To install TimeWatcher on your computer just start the Setup Programm. To 
  15. deinstall TimeWatcher just use Software Properties Dialog which is found in
  16. the System properties Window of Windows95. 
  17.  
  18. IMPORTANT: If you install TimeWatcher from a network drive, you have to map
  19. that network drive (=give it a drive letter), before startiting the
  20. installation. Otherwise TimeWatcher can't find the setup files.
  21.  
  22. In some cases during the setup TimeWatcher finds System files, which are not
  23. up to date. In this case the Setup program asks, whether you want to update
  24. these files. Answer 'yes' to update them, then TimeWatcher will reboot your
  25. computer. After this reboot you have to start the SETUP.EXE program again!

  27. The password after installation is REGISTER and the security code is AEI.

  47.                             Purpose of the programm
  48.                             =======================
  49.  
  50. This program was especially developed for internet cafes but it is very
  51. useful for anyone who want to give limited access to a computer for a
  52. limited period of time. The program has two main functions: 
  53.  
  54. 1. TimeWatcher gives access to a computer for a certain period of time.
  55.    After this period it locks the computer.
  56.  
  57. 2. TimeWatcher controls the access to a computer. A supervisor can create
  58.    a list of forbidden programs. While TimeWatch is running, it prevents
  59.    the usage of these programs.

  65. Version 1.0: First Release on June 16, 1998 under the name TimeWatch

  67. Version 2.0: Released August 5, 1998

  69.      + Better lock function: Now TimeWatch should lock every computer

  109.        which is very useful for comercial users
  110.      + Time Distributer Function added. A very educational tool for parents
  111.      + New feature added: Now you can save the options to a file which helps
  112.        you to export the options to multiple computers 
  113.      + Security dialog improved: No more long waiting times for wrong codes and
  114.        easier handling due to new mechanism.
  115.      + Timer Dialog improved: Remaining Time can now be displayed in a tiny
  116.        window at the top of the screen.
  117.      + Improved registry read/write routines. TimeWatcher is now able to work
  118.        faster and with a higher error acceptance with the registry
  119.      + File Requesters in options dialog added, they should avoid some typing
  120.      + Bug with Error Dialogs removed. Because the error dialogs can disturb
  121.        the mouse clipping TimeWatcher has now it's own error dialogs, which
  122.        seem to be even a little better then the windows ones :)
  123.      + Localization function added: Now the labels, most important for the 
  124.        normal user, can be translated into every language.
  125.      + New registration procedere: After registration, the user no longer
  126.        gets binary files but just a user name and a code. That makes the
  127.        registration process much faster and easier and means less downloads
  128.        for the user. 
  129.      + Logo support. TimeWatcher can now display a user logo in the blocking
  130.        dialog.
  131.      + Fixed bug: When the message box "wrong Direct Access Code" was moved
  132.        the mouse clipping was deactivated

  134.        Windows startup.
