  30. Thank you for trying BreeseFTP, we hope that you find it easy to use, simple 
  31. enough to understand, and powerful enough to be useful.  This program is written 
  32. to provide enough features to be a useful program, but not the extraneous 
  33. features that make a program confusing and bulky.  We hope you feel the same. If

  39. BreeseFTP is the sole property of Breese IT&C and Marcus Breese.  Any 
  40. unauthorized use, including reverse engineering, registration code cracking, 
  41. sharing registration codes, or any other means deemed unfit by Breese IT&C is 
  42. prohibited.  You have a limited, evaluation license, to be used only for 
  43. evaluation purposes.  If you would wish to use this product after it's initial 
  44. trial period, you must register the program.  Registering will give you access 
  45. to further versions at either a reduced price or for a complementary upgrade.

  48. Installation

  50. Run the installation program, setup.exe.  This will install the files into the proper 
  51. directories, and create start menu icons for you.

  54. How to use BreeseFTP

  57. Connect to New Server
  58.  
  59. To connect to a server, after opening the program, select "File > New".  A login 
  60. dialog box will then appear.  You need to enter (at a bare minimum) the hostname 
  61. (i.e. ftp.microsoft.com).  You have the options to enter a username / password, 
  62. a default remote directory, a default local directory, and a Profile name.  You 
  63. can save as many profiles as you wish, and can organize them like you would any 
  64. other document file.

  66. If you do not select "Connect on Open", you will need to click the "Connect" 
  67. toolbar button, or select "File > Connect to Server", to actually connect and 
  68. logon to the FTP server.  Otherwise, you will be connected right away.

  71. Connect to a Saved Profile

  73. To connect to a saved file, just open the profile like you would every other 
  74. document, select "File > Open".  If you selected "Connect on Open" you will be 
  75. logged on to the server right away, otherwise you will need to follow the same 
  76. procedure listed above.

  79. Edit a Profile

  81. You can edit a profile while it is open ("File > Open") by clicking the "Edit" 
  82. toolbar button or selected "File > Edit Profile".

  84. You will need to save your changes before you close the file, or your changes 
  85. will be lost.

  88. Change Directories
  89.  
  90. You can change directories by either "double clicking" the directory name in the 
  91. tree view or the list view.  You can also click the "Change Directory" toolbar 
  92. button, or select "Session > Change Directory".  If you do not have a directory 
  93. selected, you will be prompted for one.

  95. If you want to change to the root directory, click the "/" toolbar button, 
  96. select the appropriate menu item, or context menu.

  98. If you want to change to the parent directory, click the ".." toolbar button, 
  99. select the appropriate menu item, or context menu.

  101. If you want to change to the home directory, click the "Home" toolbar button, 
  102. select the appropriate menu item, or context menu.

  105. Download a File / Multiple Files / Directories

  107. To download a file, highlight it, and click the "Download" toolbar button, 
  108. select "Session > Download" or use the context (right click) menu.

  110. To download multiple files, select multiple files.

  112. To download directories, highlight the directory.
  113.  
  114. You can download in any combination of the above.  After you start the download, 
  115. you will be prompted for the directory in which to save the files / directories.  
  116. You will see a progress indicator that lists not only the progress on the 
  117. current file, but also the progress on the total transmission.

  120. Upload a File / Multiple Files / Directories

  122. To upload a file, click the "Upload" toolbar button, select "Session > Upload 
  123. Files", or use the context (right click) menu.  Select the file(s) you want to 
  124. upload.  To select multiple files, hold down the CTRL key while clicking the 
  125. files you want.  They will be uploaded to the current directory of the server.

  127. To upload a file, select "Session > Upload Directory".  The contents of this 
  128. directory, along will all sub-directories will be included in the transfer.  You
  129. can also drag files into the window from explorer and upload to the current 
  130. directory.

  132. You will see the same progress indicators you will see with downloads.

  135. View Files

  137. To view the contents of a text file, right click the file and use the context 
  138. menu to select "View".  The file will download and be displayed in the text 
  139. viewer of your choice.

  142. Delete Files

  144. To delete a file, select the file and click the "Delete" toolbar button, select 
  145. "Session > Delete", or use the appropriate context menu item.

  147. Rename Files
  148.  
  149. The easiest way to rename a file is to highlight the file and click it, or hit 
  150. F2.  This is the same mechanism Windows Explorer uses to rename files.

  152. Alternatively, you can also select "Session > Rename File" to enter the full 
  153. pathname of the original file, and the new name.

  155. You can rename directories using a similar mechanism.

  158. Create and Manipulate Directories

  160. You can create a directory using the "Session > Make Directory" command, the 
  161. "New Directory" toolbar button, or the context menu (right click) and select 
  162. "Make Directory" menu item.

  164. Renaming Directories is done in the same way as renaming a file.
  165.  
  166. Removing a directory follows the same logic as creating a directory, only you 
  167. use the "Remove Directory" commands.  The directory must be empty before you can 
  168. remove it.

  171. Disconnect from a Server

  173. To disconnect from a server, you can either click the "Disconnect" toolbar 
  174. button or select "File > Close Connection".
  175.  
  176. If you exit the program, you will also be disconnected.

  206. BUG: Multiple Files to Upload can not exceed the maximum path limit imposed by 
  207. windows.  (E.g. you can only upload so many files at once).  Looking for a work 
  208. around.  Does not occur with drag and drop uploads.
