  7. INSTALLATION NOTES:
  8. -------------------
  9.  
  10.  1.  You must have OS/2 DOS Support installed in order to install this driver.
  11.  
  12.  2.  The OS/2 ATTRIB command is used during installation.  If you elected not
  13.      to install the OS/2 System Utility Programs or you have deleted the
  14.      ATTRIB, command you must use Selective Install to restore the ATTRIB
  15.      command before continuing.
  16.  
  17.  3.  If you previously installed SVGA support, return to VGA resolution using
  18.      the new SETVGA procedure found at the end of this README before you
  19.      install this driver.
  20.  
  21.  4.  You must have run the S64MODE.EXE utility and selected a monitor
  22.      from the Stealth 64 Installation disk prior to installing these
  23.      drivers.  If you have not done this, do so now.  Refer to
  24.      instructions in the Stealth 64 User's Manual for running
  25.      S64MODE.EXE and selecting a monitor.
  26.  
  27. INSTALLATION:
  28. -------------
  29.  
  30. This video accelerator driver is compatible with OS/2 2.1.  Do not install it
  31. on previous versions of OS/2.
  32.  
  33.  1.  Place this diskette into drive A (or any other diskette drive).
  34.  
  35.  2.  Open an OS/2 full-screen or OS/2 window session.
  36.  
  37.  3.  At the OS/2 command prompt, type the following command:
  38.  
  39.      A:S3INST A: C:
  40.  
  41.           where:  A: is the diskette drive
  42.                   C: is the drive where OS/2 2.1 is installed
  43.  
  44.      This command will copy all necessary files to the OS/2 drive.
  45.  
  46.  4.  Remove the diskette from the diskette drive, perform a shutdown, and
  47.      then restart the system.
  48.  
  49.  5.  Open the "OS/2 System" folder.
  50.  
  51.  6.  Open the "System Setup" folder.
  52.  
  53.  7.  Open the "Display Driver Install" (DSPINSTL) object.
  54.  
  55.      When the Display Driver Install window appears, "S3" should be the
  56.      default choice.  Select "OK".
  57.  
  58.      When the Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility window appears,
  59.      the "Install Using Defaults for Monitor Type" option is preselected.
  60.      Select the "Install Using Display Adapter Utility Program" option, then
  61.      select "OK".
  62.  
  63.   8. The Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility Location windows should
  64.      appear.  For the Utility Location, type:
  65.  
  66.              C:\S64\UTIL\S64MODE.EXE MONITOR
  67.  
  68.      If you installed S64MODE into a different directory, modify the above
  69.      path accordingly.  Select "OK".
  70.  
  71.   9. When the source directory pop-up window appears, insert the S3
  72.      Video Accelerator Driver diskette and select Install.
  73.  
  74.      DSPINSTL determines the hardware configuration by creating the
  75.      SVGADATA.PMI file on the drive where the OS2 directory is located.
  76.      If the SVGADATA.PMI file has not been created, the adapter will not be
  77.      supported.

  79.  10.  When the installation is complete, do the following:
  80.        a.  Open "OS/2 System".
  81.        b.  Open "System Setup".
  82.        c.  Open the "System" object.  The Screen page of the Settings
  83.            notebook lists all the supported resolutions for your
  84.            configuration.
  85.        d.  Select a resolution; then, close the notebook.
  86.  
  87.  11.  Perform a shutdown; then, restart the system.
  88.  
  89. Note that during the installation of this driver a DISPLAY.LOG file is
  90. created in the OS2\INSTALL directory.  This file identifies the OS/2 2.1
  91. system files that were updated and indicates whether the installation was
  92. successful.  The contents of this file might be useful if you need to report
  93. an installation problem to Diamond Computer Systems.

  100.   With the program VPIC6 under FS DOS, GIFs cannot be viewed in the 1280x1024
  101.   resolution.

  105.   Context switching from Win-OS/2 full screen to OS/2 full screen may
  106.   produce a distorted text in OS/2 full screen.
