  24. The Graphics device drivers supplied here are for the Microsoft Retail 
  25. Release of the Windows NT operating system.
  26.  
  27. The drivers will substitute 640x480 by 256 colors if the mode selected is 
  28. NOT supported by the mach64 graphics hardware.

  70. 2.0     Installation Notes for Windows NT
  71.  
  72. This driver package containing:
  73.   
  74.   - ATI.SYS        (ATI Graphics miniport driver)
  75.   - ATI.DLL        (ATI Graphics display  driver)
  76.   - OEMSETUP.INF   (setup files used by Windows NT Setup program)
  77.   - TXTSETUP.OEM

  79.   - SSDPMS.SCR     (DPMS driver)

  82. Windows NT drivers are included on Disk #2 of this package.  They are
  83. located in the \NT sub-directory.
  84.  
  85. Procedure:
  86.  
  87. 1. Run the Windows NT Setup program located in the Program Manager, Main
  88.    group.  
  89.    
  90. 2. Select Change System settings, from the Options pulldown menu.
  91.  
  92. 3. Select Other, from the display options.
  93.    
  94. 4. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT, where A: is
  95.    the drive containing the mach64 Disk #2.
  96.  
  97. 5. A list of all Graphics Accelerator drivers will appears, select
  98.    the resolution and color depth desired.
  99.  
  100. 6. Restart Windows NT.  Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers.
  101.  
  102. Note: If you select a color depth or resolution, not supported by your 
  103.       card, NT will substitute 640x480, 256 color for the display.

  106. 2.1     Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers
  107.  
  108. How to uninstall the mach64 Windows Device Driver.  There are TWO ways to 
  109. do this without re-installing Windows NT.
  110.  
  111. ONE method is:
  112.     CD \winnt\system32\drivers
  113.     ren ATI.sys  ATI.ati
  114.     Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, if it cannot find
  115.     it, it cannot use it.
  116.  
  117. SECOND method is:
  118.     While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program.
  119.     Select a NON mach64 driver  (try VGA compatible)
  120.

  123. 3.0     DPMS Support
  124.  
  125. VESA DPMS-compliant monitors conserve electrical energy by powering down 
  126. during periods of inactivity when the DPMS feature is enabled. 
  127.  
  128. Auto-shutdown occurs after a defined period of keyboard and mouse inactivity. 
  129. There are three stages for reduced power consumption: Standby, Suspend and 
  130. Off. The amount of power that is saved at each stage is determined by the 
  131. manufacturer of the monitor.
  132.  
  133. WARNING
  134.  
  135. Monitors that do not support VESA DPMS can be damaged by activation of the 
  136. DPMS feature.
  137.  
  138. To enable DPMS support for NT 3.1:
  139.  
  140. 1) Double click on the NT Desktop icon
  141. 2) Select the SCREEN SAVERS option
  142. 3) Select DPMS from the list of available SCREEN SAVERS
  143. 4) Click on the SETUP button, to configure DPMS stand by mode.
  144. 5) When DPMS stand by is enabled, you can then configure SUSPEND and OFF 
  145.    time in minutes
  146.  
  147. Note: The STANDBY time intervolt is determined by the DELAY time set for 
  148.       the SCREEN SAVER function.

  152. 4.0     Known Problems
  153.  
  154. This driver does not currently support 1280x1024 on ISA mach64 product.
  155.  
  156. This driver does not currently support 24 bpp at resolutions greater than
  157. 640x480 on ISA mach64 product.
  158.  
  159. Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the
  160. colors not looking right.
  161.  
  162. What to do if  ACCELERATOR not found message appears:
  163.  
  164. Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O
  165. locations in the 350-35F hex range?  Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range.
  166.  
  167. Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report 
  168. "Mach64 Adapter not detected.".  The install program must be run from DOS.
  169.  
  170. 1280x1024 is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations
  171.  
  172. 24 BPP is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations at 
  173. resolutions greater than 640x480.
