  5. CD-ROM INSTALLATION & TECHNICAL NOTES

  7. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  8.  
  9. 1.  Startup Windows.
  10. 2.  Place the disk in your CD-ROM drive.
  11. 3.  In Program Manager, click the File menu and select Run.
  12. 4.  Type D:\SETUP where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  13.  
  14. A Program Group called "Glowing Icon" will be created.  
  15. The "Glowing Icon Sampler" icon will be there.
  16. Click it to launch the Glowing Icon Sampler CD-ROM program.
  17.  
  18. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS: 
  19. (If you do not already have Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1.)
  20.  
  21. 1.  In Program Manager, click the File menu and select Run.
  22. 2.  Type D:\RUNTIME\SETUP (if D is your CD-ROM drive.)
  23. 3.  Restart Windows.
  24.  
  25.  
  26. This CD-ROM title's hardware, software and installation 
  27. instructions follow the usual Multimedia PC Level 2 standard.  
  28. The CD-ROM installation method has been written to be simple 
  29. and routine.
  30.  
  31. TO RUN THIS CD - MINIMUM SOFTWARE/HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
  32.  
  33. Platform: MPC Multimedia Computer.
  34.  
  35. PC with a 386 SX or higher microprocessor, minimum 20 MHz CPU, 
  36. 33 MHz and higher recommended.
  37. 4MB of RAM or greater, 2 MB of available hard disk space, 
  38. and a single speed CD-ROM drive (double speed is recommended).
  39. VGA+ (256 color) display.  
  40.  
  41. Note: These videos are digitized in 24 bit color, therefore we  
  42. recommend color displays capable of operating in 65,536 (16 bit)
  43. colors or better.
  44.    
  45. Any MPC compatible sound card with headphones or 
  46. speakers recommended.
  47.  
  48. Mouse or compatible pointing device.
  49.  
  50. MS-DOS version 3.3 or later.
  51.  
  52. MS Windows 3.1 or later.  
  53.  
  54. The installation process will update your system with 
  55. Microsoft Visual Basic 3.0 runtime as well as 
  56. Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 runtime.
  57.  
  58. VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: 
  59. View at 640 by 480 resolution using Small Fonts.  
  60. Close other unnecessary applications before running 
  61. this CD-ROM title.
  62.  
  63. TO PLAY: In Program Manager open title's program group window and 
  64. double click on the icon to launch CD-ROM program.  
  65.  
  66. TECHNICAL NOTES: Video for Windows 1.1:  
  67. Must be installed for proper performance.  
  68. The AVI files in the disk's \VIDEO folder are viewable from other 
  69. Video for Windows applications.  Click one and see!
  70.

  76. Loop On/Off:  Toggles the looping feature, Loop On to play a loop sequence.
  77. Loop In:  Click to mark the start point of a loop sequence.
  78. Loop Out: Click to mark the end point of a loop sequence.
  79. Enlarge:  Enlarges the video's Play window size.  
  80. Shrink:  Reduces the video Play window size.  
  81.     Note: Enlarge and Shrink do not function when in 256 color mode.
  82. Start:     Resets the video clip to the beginning.
  83. Jump R: Jumps 1/10 of the clip back.
  84. Rew:      Fast Rewinds the video clip, skipping back every 120 frames.
  85. Play R:    Plays video and audio in reverse.  Most CD-ROM drives have difficulty handling this, due to their relatively slow access times.
  86. Pause:    Stops the video clip at a freeze frame.  Click on Pause again to return to Play mode.
  87. Play:     Normal speed video.
  88. Slow:      Click once for slow motion play.  Click again to return to normal speed play.
  89. FF:      Fast Forwards the video clip, skipping ahead every 120 frames.
  90. Jump F: Jumps 1/10 of the clip forward.
  91. Step R:    Steps through video clip frame by frame in reverse motion.
  92. Step F:    Steps through video clip frame by frame in forward motion.

  94. Cloak:    Places a fake desktop screen image over the program,
  95.     in case you need to cover up.  Click the mouse on the 
  96.     screen to re-enter the program.
  97.  
  98. Low Memory:   Run 386 Enhanced mode and set up a virtual memory swap file.  
  99. It is a good idea to have 8 MB of memory when running multimedia applications 
  100. on your PC.
  101.  
  102. Fonts:    Use Small Fonts if you notice any font misalignments.
