- CD-ROM INSTALLATION & TECHNICAL NOTES

- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
-
- 1. Startup Windows.
- 2. Place the disk in your CD-ROM drive.
- 3. In Program Manager, click the File menu and select Run.
- 4. Type D:\SETUP where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
-
- A Program Group called "Glowing Icon" will be created.
- The "Glowing Icon Sampler" icon will be there.
- Click it to launch the Glowing Icon Sampler CD-ROM program.

- ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- (If you do not already have Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1.)
-
- 1. In Program Manager, click the File menu and select Run.
- 2. Type D:\RUNTIME\SETUP (if D is your CD-ROM drive.)
- 3. Restart Windows.

- This CD-ROM title's hardware, software and installation
- instructions follow the usual Multimedia PC Level 2 standard.
- The CD-ROM installation method has been written to be simple
- and routine.

- TO RUN THIS CD - MINIMUM SOFTWARE/HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

- Platform: MPC Multimedia Computer.

- PC with a 386 SX or higher microprocessor, minimum 20 MHz CPU,
- 33 MHz and higher recommended.
- 4MB of RAM or greater, 2 MB of available hard disk space,
- and a single speed CD-ROM drive (double speed is recommended).
- VGA+ (256 color) display.

- Note: These videos are digitized in 24 bit color, therefore we
- recommend color displays capable of operating in 65,536 (16 bit)
- colors or better.

- Any MPC compatible sound card with headphones or
- speakers recommended.
-
- Mouse or compatible pointing device.
-
- MS-DOS version 3.3 or later.
-
- MS Windows 3.1 or later.
-
- The installation process will update your system with
- Microsoft Visual Basic 3.0 runtime as well as
- Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 runtime.

- VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS:
- View at 640 by 480 resolution using Small Fonts.
- Close other unnecessary applications before running
- this CD-ROM title.

- TO PLAY: In Program Manager open title's program group window and
- double click on the icon to launch CD-ROM program.

- TECHNICAL NOTES: Video for Windows 1.1:
- Must be installed for proper performance.
- The AVI files in the disk's \VIDEO folder are viewable from other
- Video for Windows applications. Click one and see!

- Loop On/Off: Toggles the looping feature, Loop On to play a loop sequence.
- Loop In: Click to mark the start point of a loop sequence.
- Loop Out: Click to mark the end point of a loop sequence.
- Enlarge: Enlarges the video's Play window size.
- Shrink: Reduces the video Play window size.
- Note: Enlarge and Shrink do not function when in 256 color mode.
- Start: Resets the video clip to the beginning.
- Jump R: Jumps 1/10 of the clip back.
- Rew: Fast Rewinds the video clip, skipping back every 120 frames.
- Play R: Plays video and audio in reverse. Most CD-ROM drives have difficulty handling this, due to their relatively slow access times.
- Pause: Stops the video clip at a freeze frame. Click on Pause again to return to Play mode.
- Play: Normal speed video.
- Slow: Click once for slow motion play. Click again to return to normal speed play.
- FF: Fast Forwards the video clip, skipping ahead every 120 frames.
- Jump F: Jumps 1/10 of the clip forward.
- Step R: Steps through video clip frame by frame in reverse motion.
- Step F: Steps through video clip frame by frame in forward motion.

- Cloak: Places a fake desktop screen image over the program,
- in case you need to cover up. Click the mouse on the
- screen to re-enter the program.

- Low Memory: Run 386 Enhanced mode and set up a virtual memory swap file.
- It is a good idea to have 8 MB of memory when running multimedia applications
- on your PC.

- Fonts: Use Small Fonts if you notice any font misalignments.
