  3. of a Minbari Cruiser? Well, look no further. These
  4. exciting things and more can be found on GEnie's
  5. Science Fiction and Fantasy RoundTables -- SFRT,
  6. for short. One of the busiest areas in all of
  7. GEnie, the SFRT isn't just one RoundTable, but
  8. three. They're related, of course, but each enjoys
  9. its own sphere of influence in the world of science
  10. fiction and fantasy.

  14. Science Fiction RoundTable #2 (SFRT2, for short) on
  15. GEnie Page 471, is the online heart and soul of
  16. popular films and television shows that have their
  17. roots in science fiction, fantasy, and --
  18. particularly appropriate this month -- horror. You
  19. can delve into all the fascinating aspects of these
  20. popular artforms there, from casting to reruns.

  22. You're in the right place if you're interested in
  23. Star Trek or Babylon 5. Much of SFRT2 is devoted to
  24. these hugely popular shows, as well as other hot SF
  25. media events.

  29. A broad range of interests are evident in SFRT2,
  30. and you never know when an actor or someone else
  31. famous might reply to one of your messages on the
  32. Bulletin Board. Bruce Campbell is around, as has
  33. been Wil Wheaton, and the latest talk is that Armin
  34. Shimerman has been reading both the Star Trek: Deep
  35. Space Nine and Beauty & The Beast Topics. Rumor?
  36. Your guess is as good as mine, but I wouldn't be
  37. surprised to find it's true.

  39. I suspect that, at one time or another, the SFRT2
  40. Bulletin Board has addressed every TV show or movie
  41. that ever had anything to do with science fiction,
  42. fantasy, or horror. You'll find some of the most
  43. active, prolific and knowledgeable people online
  44. posting on the Board.

  46. In Category 17, Cable & Satellite, you'll find
  47. indepth discussions about Mystery Science Theater
  48. 3000 and Beauty & The Beast -- yes, even when a
  49. show is canceled there are STILL fans avid to talk
  50. about it. If you're into the mysterious,
  51. nerve-wracking and often thought-provoking X-Files
  52. Series, you'll enjoy Category 15, Network TV, right
  53. along with the likes of Lois & Clark and SeaQuest.
  54. Whovians should step over to the Dr. Who Category
  55. (number 13) and jump right into that discussion.

  57. There is a huge group of GEnie members who watched
  58. (and even participated in) the creation and
  59. production of Babylon 5, which took place in
  60. SFRT2's super active Topics in Categories 18-19.

  69. SFRT2's Real-Time Conference (RTC) area is hopping
  70. several nights of the week. Trek Night is Tuesday
  71. at 10:00 PM Eastern time, when we have discussions
  72. and sometimes get first-hand news about the new
  73. Star Trek Voyager series right from SFRT2's Head
  74. Sysop, Arne Starr, who recently had the privilege
  75. of visiting that set along with the set of Deep
  76. Space Nine. If you are a "Leaper," join us on
  77. Thursday Nights at 10:00 PM for the Quantum Leap
  78. chats, and keep right on reading when the Trek
  79. Novel chat happens at the same time in a different
  80. room.

  82. If you're up late on Thursday or Friday night, hit
  83. the Late Night ScuttleButt Lounge. It opens at 12
  84. Midnight Eastern time, and you'll enjoy everything
  85. from talk of Star Trek's demise to birthday
  86. celebrations for GEnie members.

  88. Friday, starting at 10:00 PM Eastern time, is the
  89. Babylon 5 discussion, immediately followed by the
  90. B5 Spoiler Conference. If you're lucky, B5 creator
  91. Joe Stracynzki will wander by; he does so fairly
  92. often. We close out the week with mystery, intrigue
  93. and chills with none other than that
  94. thought-provoking series, X-Files. Come find out
  95. what's going on at 9:00 PM Eastern time on

  100. SFRT2 has over 1200 files in its Library, featuring
  101. the most interesting downloadables of the genre. We
  102. have Conference transcripts, Topic archives from
  103. the Bulletin Board, episode summaries and FAQs
  104. (Frequently Asked Questions) about many different
  105. shows. And if you collect images, you can download
  106. GIFs of your favorite actors and scenes. Some files

  147. you're a Fan, then this is the place for you. SFRT2
  148. covers the essence of Fandom but if you want more,
  149. here's where you'll find it. Categories on
  150. costuming, conventions, writing and editing are
  151. only a few of the areas that appeal to a multitude
  152. of fans.
