- We did our own spin on a Swimsuit Edition this month
- in celebration of GEnie's upcoming Hot Summer Nights
- in August. Although you may find it somewhat less
- sensational than other publications' well-publicized
- editions, we had fun with it and hope you do, too.
-
- One thing you must admit: That Independence Day Gang
- sure gets around. LiveWire's writers and artists had
- some interesting discussions about what people such
- as George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Betsy Ross
- might have thought of modern technology, and some of
- our musings are reflected in articles in this issue
- -- in particular, 5th Annual Hot Summer Nights, and
- the Macintosh and *StarShip* Amiga RoundTable
- stories.
-
- Digital to Analog
-
- We received lots of GE Mail asking after this popular
- column and are happy to point out that NetSearch:
- Headline News resumes this month with a brand new
- author, versatile Joanna Strohn, co-sysop of the
- Motorcycling RoundTable. Reading NetSearch is a great
- way to maximize your time on GEnie, and we recommend
- that you look it over each month if you don't
- already. NetSearch points out real-world headline
- news files from all around the system that you can
- download to increase your awareness of the world and
- get thought provoking, alternate viewpoints.
-
- We're also pleased with Donn King's on-the-scene
- report from Atlantafest. Sounds like everyone who
- attended this event had a fine time meeting friends
- they'd never seen before along with those they had.
-
- Let us know about other in-person GEnie GEtogethers
- so we can pass the word -- or share some of the fun!
- Send GE Mail with details to LIVEWIRE.
-
- Practice Makes Perfect
-
- If you want to get the most from GEnie, don't miss
- Keith Garrett's story about the New GEnie Practice
- area in this issue, especially if you find
- transferring files or participating in Bulletin
- Boards and live Conferences challenging. You can hone
- those skills free of standard connect charges there.
- And Mark Hiatt's GEnie Magic column this month has
- some great tips on handling the intricacies of GE
- Mail. Both articles go a long way toward making the
- time you spend online more worthwhile, whatever your
- goals.
-
- Welcome Inside CTV
-
- You've undoubtedly heard about broadcast multimedia,
- and you may even have visited the NBC RoundTable on
- GEnie.
-
- Multimedia broadcasting is definitely on the horizon,
- and a partnership between the CTV Television Network,
- Canada's largest private broadcaster, and GEnie,
- paves the way for Canadians (among others) to attain
- direct access to some of that country's most
- influential people, and provides you with an
- opportunity help make some of the decisions about
- this developing technology.
-
- This precedent-setting agreement lets you to interact
- directly with CTV decision-makers through GEnie's new
- CTV RoundTable, appropriately named Inside CTV, and
- LiveWire will have a full report on it next month. In
- the meantime, drop by and get in on the ground floor.

- prompt.
