  23. U.S. Federal Center lets you access the full text
  24. of the Federal Register, the Federal News Service,
  25. Tax Notes Today, and the Washington Post. You can
  26. search through these and other sources, all at the
  27. same time, which makes your searches for government
  28. information extremely efficient.

  30. Simply enter the topic you're interested in,
  31. whether it's a subject on agency regulations,
  32. upcoming legislation or recent court decisions.
  33. U.S. Federal Center covers national affairs news,
  34. government purchasing, and important publications.
  35.   
  36. Ask your question, and the computer will quickly
  37. search through thousands of journals, magazines,
  38. and reports to let you know where information on
  39. your topic can be found. Choose from the titles
  40. shown and start reviewing the results.

  44. To reach the U.S. Federal Center, enter the keyword
  45. FEDERALCTR or type M1248 at any GEnie page prompt.
  46. This is a GEnie$Premium service, so charges in
  47. addition to connect time apply. Select Menu Item 2
  48. on Page 1248 to review the complete listing of
  49. applicable prices. All additional charges for the
  50. U.S. Federal Center are directly related to the
  51. searches you perform and the information you
  52. retrieve. The U.S. Federal Center divides each step
  53. of your search and retrieval into different
  54. classifications.

  56. U.S. Federal Center accesses databases from the
  57. Bureau of National Affairs, the U.S. Government
  58. Printing Office, the National Technical Information
  59. Service, the Washington Post, and Federal
  60. Information Systems Corp. It is made available by
  61. Dialog Information Services, Inc. and offered
  62. through GEnie via Advanced Research Technologies'
  63. ARTIST(R) Gateway System.

  65. If you choose the Multiple Database Search option,
  66. the first step searches through the databases which
  67. cover that topic to find how many times your search
  68. term occurs and in what subject areas it appears. A
  69. Groupsearch then displays a menu containing this
  70. information.

  72. No-Hit Insurance
  73.   
  74. If no matches are found, a lower "No-Hit" search
  75. fee applies to cover the expense involved in
  76. searching these databases on your behalf.

  78. Next you can select a "title review" from the menu
  79. resulting from the Groupsearch. Specify which
  80. source you want to see; the headlines of the
  81. matched articles, up to 10 at a time, will be
  82. displayed on your screen. Each set of up to 10
  83. titles you review from each source will result in
  84. an additional title review charge.

  86. Finally, you can elect to read the full-text
  87. article, if available in electronic format,
  88. represented by any of the titles displayed. (If the
  89. full-text article is not available online, an
  90. abstract or full bibliographic citation will be
  91. displayed instead.) A "full-text review" charge
  92. applies for each article you request to see in
  93. full-text.

  95. A running total of charges-so-far for your current
  96. session is displayed each time you return to a
  97. menu. In addition, each time you leave the U.S.
  98. Federal Center using the "<RE>turn to GEnie"
  99. command, a summary of all "per search" charges for
  100. your current session is displayed, so there are no
  101. surprises when you get the bill.
