  13. there's fun for every taste waiting in GEnie's

  18. Starting in the IBM PC RoundTable (GEnie Page 615
  19. or type the keyword IBMPC to move there online),
  20. LetterSlide (File 35391 LSLIDE.ZIP) is a
  21. word/puzzle game based loosely on Sokoban. Each
  22. puzzle screen contains a number of letter blocks
  23. which you push left, right, up, or down. You may
  24. not push blocks diagonally. Your job is to push
  25. these blocks so that they form words at least three
  26. letters long, displayed vertically or horizontally,
  27. backwards or forwards. By creating words you are
  28. able to collect jewels and advance to the next
  29. level. As an aid, you can also collect bombs that
  30. allow you to destroy any block. That's all there is
  31. to it. Sound simple? You'll find it quite
  32. challenging! The game comes with a 16,000+ word
  33. dictionary and an editor so you can create your own
  34. levels.

  36. Another word game, File 35285 WORDY.ZIP, is the
  37. latest, much-improved version of an educational
  38. game which works on both mono and color systems.
  39. Wordy checks entered words "on the fly" against a
  40. 94,000 word dictionary. The game is optimized for
  41. practicing pattern and word recognition skills used
  42. in Scrabble(tm) and Boggle(tm).

  44. In Dungeons of Drakklor, you become Binkley, the
  45. bravest explorer of all time, where you begin the
  46. most dangerous campaign of all, the search for the
  47. fountain of life. Legend has it that the fountain
  48. is located in the lost fire-city of Arrythrias.
  49. Your quest will not be easy. Arrythrias lies in the
  50. outer reaches of the Drakklor Mountains, where
  51. unspeakably evil creatures lurk, waiting for unwary
  52. explorers. Dungeons of Drakklor is File 35436
  53. DRAK41A.ZIP.

  55. You are the great space adventurer, George P.
  56. Shagnasty in Skulas (File 35437 SKUL01A.ZIP) and
  57. you've landed on the planet Skulas looking for a
  58. cool drink. There are 20 levels, each with a
  59. multitude of traps, treasures, spells, and
  60. creatures. Game play can be saved and restored.

  62. For a different type of role-playing game, try
  63. AMERICHAOS 1994 (File 35434 AC9401A.ZIP), in which
  64. bands of genetically-altered motorcycle bandits
  65. tough enough to shrug off shotgun blasts prowl
  66. ruined cities. Armored city fortresses house the
  67. rich and powerful, while the rest of us face daily
  68. fights for survival. A complete hypertext role
  69. playing rule book, the game itself is not played on
  70. the computer. It is designed to be used as a
  71. hypertext set of rules for playing the game with
  72. friends.

  74. Windows RoundTable

  76. For games designed designed to be played in the
  77. Windows environment, move to the Windows RoundTable
  78. at GEnie page 1335 (keyword WINDOWS). One recent
  79. addition to the Windows Software Library is MedWar
  80. (File 2238 MEDWAR12.ZIP), a medieval war/strategy
  81. game for up to six human or computer players.
  82. MedWar's many options include an editable playing
  83. map, variable victory conditions, 14 different
  84. playing pieces and 24 strength levels.

  86. Windows File 2303 OPALANIM.ZIP is a graphic sliding
  87. puzzle game that uses pictures of animals
  88. representing each letter of the alphabet. It's
  89. educational and ideal for young children. Files
  90. 2309 and 2312, NT_BOG.ZIP and NT_HANG.ZIP
  91. respectively, are versions of the old favorites,
  92. Bog (a word game similiar to Boggle) and Hangman
  93. written for Windows NT.

  96. outdoors to the golf course, try Golf League
  97. Recorder (File 2320 GOLFLR.ZIP) for tracking your
  98. personal performance and league handicapping
  99. statistics. Golf League Recorder features an
  100. attractive 3-D look and is easy to use. Up to 100
  101. players are supported per file. Educational
  102. information is provided for those interested in
  103. learning handicapping methods. Graphs can be
  104. generated to display handicap trends and personal
  105. scoring results, and handicaps can be viewed and
  106. sorted in a number of ways.

  110. If you've moved to the OS/2 operating system, move

  114. different Solitaire card games for OS/2, while

  125. containing all the information you need to optimize
  126. their settings and performance.

  140. interest. In The Menace of Dr. Spoil Sport (File 12
  141. MODSS.LZH) you'll enjoy a colorful 3-D shoot-em-up
  142. game in which you must find a hidden space station
  143. and disable the evil doctor's super laser beams to
  144. save earth. If you prefer hunting dragons, try File
  145. 849 DRAGHUNT.ZIP, a 3-D simulation of reality, in
  146. this case a fantasy.

  148. Speaking of simulations, there's a great one in
  149. GRANDCAN.ZIP (File 395), a 3-D wire-frame flight
  150. through one of the world's natural wonders, the
  151. Grand Canyon. View it through your own red/blue
  152. glasses, or turn off stereo mode and zoom over,
  153. around, and down inside some of the most daunting
  154. canyons on earth. Control the flight yourself or
  155. select auto-flight mode.

  158. three-dimensional world by hand or by riding on a
  159. moving 3-D cart, where you can stop, start, and
  160. activate other 3-D objects (some of which are also
  161. moving), and explore behind walls to find entrances
  162. to secret areas. Tip: find the helicopter.
