- I remember when the largest stigma attached to the
- perception of the Atari Computer system was its
- tremendous success in the video game arena. For
- years, when I'd mention I used an Atari computer
- for word processing, to whip up a spreadsheet,
- create a database, or do desktop publishing, I'd
- often be greeted with blank looks and inevitable
- comments like, "I thought Atari was a game machine
- company." It is -- but it's also the producer of
- some exceptional, easy to use computers that
- coincidently allow us to play games.

- Gamesmanship Online
-
- In the Atari RoundTable on GEnie Page 475, we
- discuss new titles as well as the classics. Many of
- these games are common to all platforms. A hint or
- tip discussed in Bulletin Board Category 9 in the
- topic about Elite II from Frontier, for example, is
- equally applicable to the Atari or IBM. It is not
- uncommon to have people in that area with both
- computers discussing their latest adventures.
-
- Topics currently under discussion in Category 9,
- the Games Category, include: Game Hints and
- Information, Air Simulator Games, TT Compatible
- Games, B-17 Flying Fortress, Civilization, NAARJEK
- Alternate Reality, Falcon Compatible Games, TOWERS
- by JV Enterprises, Legends of Valour, NEW programs
- from JV Enterprises & PAC, Ishar II Messengers of
- Doom, AMBERSTAR for the ST, Mah Jong Solitare 3.0,
- Railroad Tycoon, Ancient Art of War In the Sky,
- Frontier: ELITE II, General Help, Empire and Star
- Fleet by Interstel, BLACK HOLE for the Falcon030,
- AmberMoon (AmberStar II), DUNGEON MASTER, Which
- GAMES are best in the ST-RT Lib?, Wargaming on the
- ST, Falcon Games, Oxyd by Dongleware, and NEW
- RELEASES!

- Lynx & Jaguar
-
- The Atari computer is much more than a game machine
- but it certainly has its share of games, ranging
- from educational to role-playing. Naturally Atari
- remains a factor in the game market as well, with
- Lynx hand-held video games and the 64-bit Jaguar!
- As the official online resource of Atari
- Corporation, the Atari RoundTable has Categories
- discussing both of these excellent machines.
-
- If you own an Atari Lynx, join our discussions in
- Bulletin Board Category 36. Dozens of helpful files
- are available for downloading from the Atari
- Software Library. For example, file 32301
- LYNXINFO.LZH, uploaded by B.CANTIN, contains a
- collection of text files that includes reviews,
- cheats, hints, record high scores, comlynxers, Rob
- Jung's best/worst of the last three years, and
- more! This is a must-download for Lynx owners!
-
- What can I say about the Atari Jaguar, Atari's new
- 64-bit RISC Game Console? It must be seen to be
- believed! If you haven't had a chance to get
- acquainted with the Jaguar, drop by Category 26 and
- read all about it. If you have questions, ask the
- people with the answers! Again, dozens of files are
- available in the Library that can be downloaded and
- read by anyone with an interest in gaming on the
- Jaguar. For a good read, I recommend Atari Explorer
- Online. File #32177 AEO_0304, for example, contains
- Hot Falcon & Jaguar News!

- One of the greatest aspects of GEnie is interacting
- with other people. I enjoy the messages -- the
- vibrant back and forth discussions so vital to a
- good Bulletin Board -- but GEnie's multi-player
- games can be superbly entertaining as well. One of
- my favorites is RSCARDS. The graphical front end
- program for the Atari ST is in file 31901
- RSCARDS.TOS in the Atari Library. After downloading
- it, go to GEnie Page 875 and play real-time
- Blackjack, Backgammon, Checkers, Poker, Reversi,
- Chess, and Bridge with other players. It's great
- fun!

-
- When it comes to games, Atari has been worthy of
- serious consideration for many years. As you can
- see, to this day Atari remains a major player in
- this genre. With release of the Atari Jaguar, a new
- generation of Atari equipment has been unleashed on
- an eager public. For the latest information, facts,
- figures, hints and tips, or just to exchange a few
- words with a friendly face, drop by the Atari
- RoundTable the next time you're online.
