- Pull up a seat, grab the marshmallows, and join the
- Science Fiction and Fantasy RoundTable's FIRST
- Real-Time Conference (RTC) story-telling night!
-
- The one and only Uncle Yog will be telling stories
- on Sunday, May 22, from 10:00 PM to Midnight
- Eastern time (7:00 to 9:00 PM Pacific) in Room 40
- of the SFRT1 Conference area.
-
- Uncle Yog will tell a number of his favorite
- science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories, both
- classic and contemporary, one screen at a time.
- Turn on your capture buffer, read 'em, and talk
- about 'em with your friends there in the Conference
- area. Tales by H. G. Wells and Mary Wollstonecraft
- Shelley will be intermingled with stories by Nebula
- and Hugo nominee Martha Soukup, and an original,
- never-before-published story by best-sellers Debra
- Doyle and James D. Macdonald, along with many
- others both new and old.
-
- Story Hour
-
- Uncle Yog's Story Hour will work like this: Go to
- the SFRT1 Real-Time Conference area (menu option 2
- on GEnie Page 470), pick a room and settle in.
- Introduce yourself to the people you find there.
- Get to know each other. Forty rooms will be open --
- lots of groups to choose from. Then listen to
- stories from the humorous science fiction of "The
- Truth About Pyecraft" to the blazing horror of
- "Night Wire." An announcement will appear on your
- screen every time a new tale begins. Type /MON 40
- to Monitor Conference Room 40. After that the
- stories will come scrolling across your screen as
- they are presented.
-
- If you're an IBM-compatible owner with Windows, we
- recommend that you get the shareware program Skirzy
- from Greyware. This Windows program, specifically
- designed for GEnie's Conferences, allows you to
- open separate windows for incoming text from
- monitored rooms and live rooms -- so the stories
- won't get mixed up with the comments of your
- Conference friends. Skirzy is available on GEnie in
- the Windows RoundTable Software Library (keyword
- WINDOWS on Page 1335, menu option 3). The file
- numbers are:
-
- 1467 SKIRZ11A.ZIP Desc: Skirzy 1.1 Split,
- FILE 1 OF 2
- 1468 SKIRZ11B.ZIP Desc: Skirzy 1.1 Split,
- FILE 2 OF 2
-
- or...
-
- 1465 SKLITE11.ZIP Desc: Skirzy 1.1 Lite,
- Windows RTC Program.
-
- Skirzy Lite is identical with the full version but
- does not include the file VBRUN300.DLL (which you
- may already have since it is widely available) and
- optional sound files.
-
- SFRT -- The Place to be!
-
- The Science Fiction and Fantasy RoundTable on GEnie
- is the biggest, best, most protein-packed area of
- its kind on any online service. No matter what your
- interest in science fiction, fantasy or horror,
- you'll find something to your taste in the SFRT.
-
- SFRT1 (GEnie Page 470) deals with writing and
- reading SF/fantasy/horror. It's where most of the
- writers and editors hang out. Look in Bulletin
- Board Categories 8 through 12 for discussions of
- and by your favorite authors.
-
- SFRT2 (Page 471) has discussions on most of the
- SF/fantasy/horror media. TV, movies, radio -- if it
- deals with speculative fiction, from Doctor Who to
- Star Trek and Babylon 5, you'll find it here.
-
- SFRT3 (Page 472) deals mostly with SF fandom and
- conventions. The Fandom Weyrs of Pern, the Queen's
- Own, and many others gather here -- with
- discussion, group-stories and odd stuff well
- represented.
-
- In fact, if odd stuff is what you're after, the
- SFRT is the place to look. There's nothing that SF
- fans and pros won't talk about -- at length, in
- detail, and in very entertaining ways.
-
- Uncle Yog is calling...
-
- You're guaranteed a great time in any of the
- Science Fiction RoundTables! Just remember write
- SFRT1 on your calendar for Sunday evening, May 22,
- from 10:00 PM to Midnight Eastern time (7:00 to
- 9:00 PM Pacific). Uncle Yog will be there!
