  1. When I left you last month we were examining some
  2. great commercial demonstration versions in the
  3. Atari ST Library. I will continue that overview
  4. this month, but first we have to take care of
  5. business -- you know, tax business. My scan of the
  6. Library for tax-related files came up a little
  7. short. There are a few templates for 1040 forms,
  8. but most are out of date. Newer versions will have
  9. been uploaded by the time you read this, but what
  10. to do in the meantime? How about examining a
  11. complete tax preparation program, TAX WIZARD II+
  12. from A&D Software?
  13.   
  14. I sent GE Mail to Rod McDonald [ST-INFORMER] at A&D
  15. and recently received an updated press release.
  16. Since I don't use the program myself (I live in
  17. Canada) I relied on recommendations from owners of
  18. it in the Bulletin Board. It seems that TAX WIZARD
  19. II+ has some serious fans who have already been
  20. clamoring for this year's update! Nothing like
  21. word-of-mouth to gauge a program's value.

  23. TAX WIZARD II+ runs on ST and TT computers in ST
  24. MED/HI and TT MED/HI resolutions and touts a number
  25. of powerful functions as well as configurability.
  26. It supports over 30 tax forms using an interactive
  27. GEM interface. According to Rod, "If you are self
  28. employed, or have capital gains, investment income,
  29. dividends, interest payments, or other financial
  30. interests, home office expenses, etc., the program
  31. can handle those forms' chores." Among those
  32. supported are 1040 and 1040A along with Schedules
  33. A, B, C, D, E , EIC, F, R, SE, and Forms 1116,
  34. 2106, 2441, 3800, 3903, 4562, 6198, 6251, 8582,
  35. 8829, and the new 8829 home office expense form.
  36. "The current selection suits most private and sole
  37. proprietor business returns filed under the present
  38. federal tax system," he continues, "but
  39. unfortunately, there is no support for state return
  40. filings."

  56. category of must-have items, I urge you to check
  57. out these life-saving programs from the Atari ST
  58. Software Library which ensure that your computing
  59. time will not be spent moaning lost data!

  61. 28568 UVK58DMO.ZIP -- Demonstration version of UVK
  62. (Ultimate Virus Killer). It's pretty much fully
  63. functional, and will let you get a handle on just
  64. how good this utility is. The demo is from the UK
  65. distribution company, but UVK is available in North
  66. America from Oregon Research. The program has
  67. recently been updated to version 5.9 and can repair
  68. boot sectors on MANY commercial games!

  70. 25511 EDGEDEMO.LZH -- This is a demonstration
  71. version of Oregon Research's new offering, Diamond
  72. Edge, the most advanced set of disk management
  73. tools available for your Atari ST. It offers disk
  74. and data recovery, complete undelete, file
  75. validation and disk diagnostics, data protection,
  76. disk optimization, bad sector mapping, hard disk
  77. partitioning, disk information archival editing and
  78. restoration, and much more.

  80. 22978 DBIIDEMO.LZH -- This contains the demo
  81. version of Oregon Research Associates' hard disk
  82. backup and restore program called Diamond Back II.
  83. It is extremely fast, flexible and totally
  84. reliable. V2.42 also has Diamond Super faST
  85. compression routines to make backups even faster!
  86. Never lose data again! This program takes the pain
  87. out of doing backups.
