  10. clearinghouse for notebook, palmtop, laptop, and
  11. portable PC-compatible computers. It's the place
  12. to find software for the latest palmtop computers,
  13. CP/M laptops like the Geneva and Starlet, the
  14. Model 100/Kyocera family of laptops, and other
  15. specialized types like the Cambridge Z88 and Tandy
  16. 600. The Laptops RoundTable can be found on GEnie

  21. "Laptop RoundTable members help each other and
  22. gain insights in exchanges on the Bulletin Board,"
  23. says Dave Thomas. "Lots of folks have been steered
  24. in the right direction by members who have
  25. experience with a variety of vendors and
  26. products."

  28. Dave adds, "Our main strength has been the product
  29. information that's available for so many different
  30. laptop/palmtop related products, plus the software
  31. we have for generic computers, such as the HP 95LX
  32. and 100LX." Library 10 is full of product
  33. information on hundreds of computers and
  34. peripherals from dozens of manufacturers,
  35. including specifications for all Toshiba
  36. laptop/notebooks, and detailed product
  37. descriptions of modems, LAN connectors, external
  38. disk drives, and a host of other products.

  40. RoundTable member Bob Tullis agrees. "Researching
  41. product specifications in the Library was a huge
  42. help when I decided to upgrade to a new color
  43. laptop," he says, "Having so much quality
  44. information available in one place was a great
  45. help."

  50. available in the Laptops RoundTable, sysop Ted
  51. McKosky uploads Internet digests on a weekly
  52. basis, giving easy access to the views, opinions
  53. and experiences related by Internet members on
  54. different laptop, palmtop, pen interface and
  55. handheld computer products. Up-to-date listings of
  56. these and other new files are available by
  57. selecting option 5, RoundTable News, from the menu
  58. on page 655.

  61. Laptop Library include:

  63. TOSHIBA.$$$, from Toshiba America Information
  64. Systems, lists the prices of current computers and
  65. their peripherals; PRICES.OLD similarly lists the
  66. stock numbers and prices for peripherals of
  67. Toshiba laptops/notebooks that are no longer in
  68. production. COMPAQ.$$$, from Compaq Computer
  69. Corporation, lists the prices of that company's
  70. current offerings. File numbers of these files
  71. will change as they are updated, but the filenames
  72. are always the same.

  74. File #4884 CHESS.COM is a tiny chess program for
  75. Starlet computers. It's   only 8192 bytes in
  76. size and runs in only 32K!

  78. Toshiba owners will appreciate file #4800
  79. FNPOPUP.ZIP, a little program to   run any program
  80. under Windows 3.0 or 3.1 with the FN+POPUP key.

  82. Business Start Manager 1.0 is a powerful Personal
  83. Information Manager (PIM)   that's perfect for
  84. using on a laptop. Full-featured, with a
  85. calendar/daily   planner with notes, telephone
  86. database and dialer, to-do list with   reminders

  91. The Laptops RoundTable hosts two weekly Real-Time
  92. Conferences. Tuesdays feature Laptop Basics
  93. starting at 9:30 PM Eastern time. On Sunday
  94. evenings at 6:00 PM Eastern, there's Basic BASIC,
  95. a Conference devoted to BASIC programming. Drop in
  96. and meet your Laptop sysops and fellow RoundTable
