  1.                       Help On Using GEnie LIVEWIRE
  2.  
  3. The IBM compatible version of GEnie LIVEWIRE features both key and mouse
  4. selection.  To choose an article from the Table of Contents, click on the
  5. icon to the left of the article or press the associated alpha/numeric key.
  6.  
  7. To exit LIVEWIRE, press the X key or click on the Exit switch.
  8.  
  9. Video Requirements:  A standard VGA card capable of 640x480 pixel resolution
  10. in 16 colors is required.
  11.  
  12. Memory Requirements:  A minimum of 475K available conventional DOS memory is
  13. required to view GEnie LIVEWIRE.  To be able to view the animation effects in
  14. this issue, your system must have at least 1 megabyte of expanded or extended
  15. memory available.  If you don't, you will still be able to view everything
  16. but the animation effects.

  22.             There are four options to start GEnie LIVEWIRE.
  23.  
  24. 1.  For systems with NO sound card, type  LW1.BAT  at the prompt and press
  25. enter.
  26.  
  27. 2.  For those with a standard Sound Blaster card 1.5/2.0 type  LW2.BAT  at
  28. the prompt and press enter.
  29.  
  30. 3.  For those with Sound Blaster Pro 2.0, SB16 or SB Pro 2 MCV, type  LW3.BAT
  31. at the prompt and press enter.
  32.  
  33. 4.  To open LiveWire from Windows, see the file READ1ST.DOC that came with 
  34. this issue.

  36. The batch files will load the applicable sound drivers where appropriate and
  37. start this issue of LIVEWIRE.  Upon exiting LIVEWIRE, sound drivers (if
  38. loaded) will be removed.

  40. For those without a sound card, we have included music files that will play
  41. through your pc speaker.  These pc speaker files will not play if you have
  42. installed the Sound Blaster driver's.

  46. Sound Card Information: The sound driver installation assumes you have set
  47. the sound drive/path information.  This is normally done in your autoexec.bat
  48. file with a command that looks like this:

  50.                 SET SOUND=[drive:\path]
  51.  
  52. You may also issue this command from the DOS command line.  This tell's the
  53. batch file where the appropriate drivers are located.

  57. Mouse Information:  If you wish to use a mouse, LIVEWIRE requires a
  58. Microsoft compatible mouse and driver.  If you have a serial mouse connected
  59. to COM1 port, the IRQ setting should be 4.  If you are using COM2, the IRQ
  60. setting should be 3.  You may also use the keyboard to navigate through
  61. GEnie LIVEWIRE.

  65. If you are using MS Windows to view LIVEWIRE, the sound may be very slow
  66. depending on your configuration.  You have two choices in this event.  Leave
  67. Windows and run from the DOS prompt or remove the sound drivers.
