  8. To run this CD, you'll need:

  10. A personal computer with a 386DX/33 or higher processor 
  11. (A 486 or higher is recommended), 4MB of memory, 
  12. 3 MB of available hard disk space, CD-ROM drive.

  14. VGA+ (256-color) display.
  15.  
  16. MS-DOS operating system version 3.1 or later.
  17.  
  18. Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1 or later.
  19.  
  20. Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.

  22. Audio board, headphones, or speakers are recommended.

  32. 1)System color requirements
  33.  
  34. The Microsoft Home CD Sampler is meant to run specifically in
  35. 256 colors.  If you have trouble running the demo, it runs slow, 
  36. or the colors look funny, or you receive error messages relating 
  37. to your video driver, you may want to change your display driver 
  38. settings. To do this go to Program Manager and go into Windows 
  39. Setup in the "main" program group and change the display driver 
  40. to one that uses 256 colors.  You may also want to change the 
  41. resolution to 640x480 for better performance.

  44. 2) Setting up the free software
  45.  
  46. After SETUP for the free software is complete, you may not see the final 
  47. exit dialog. To get the final dialog, hold down the CTRL key (located near 
  48. the large spacebar) and then press the ESC key. Select Custom Entertainment Pack
  49. from the list and then click OK on the dialog to exit.

  51. 3) Video Problems
  52.  
  53. There might be some problems running the Microsoft Home CD Sampler 
  54. with some ATI Mach 8 or 32 video drivers. If you have a problems with 
  55. the CD Sampler when using these cards, go to the settings for these 
  56. drivers in Program Manager and turn the "Device Bitmaps" off.
  57.  
  58. 4) Sound problems
  59.  
  60. The Microsoft Home CD Sampler will run without a sound card, 
  61. but it is much more informative and entertaining if you are able 
  62. to play sounds on your computer. 
  63. If you have a sound card but it is not working with the CD Sampler 
  64. (or Windows) you need to set up the card to play under Windows. 
  65. Make sure that the volume for your speakers is set at an audible level.

  67. A small number of Media Vision sound card drivers (Pro Audio Spectrum cards)
  68. may not play the sound in the Microsoft Home CD Sampler correctly.  
  69. You may hear choppy sound or sentences cut off. If you have a Media 
  70. Vision card and experience problems, you may need to upgrade your driver.

  72. new driver.
