The rapid slight variation of pitch on a note, as produced by most instruments and the classical singing voice. If the variation in pitch becomes excessive, or the speed of the vibrato extremely fast or slow, the effect becomes objectionable. For the singer it can turn into the dreaded wobble, or flutter.
