Frida Leider was born in Berlin in 1888. She studied in her home city and later in Milan. The leading Br├╝nnhilde and Isolde of her time (in WagnerΓÇÖs Ring Cycle and Tristan and Isolde), she starred regularly at Bayreuth and was in demand world-wide.
Her evenly produced voice, of beautiful quality and seamless legato, enabled her to sing other r├┤les such as Donna Anna in MozartΓÇÖs Don Giovanni, the Richard Strauss heroines, and many of the Italian dramatic parts. After retiring she directed a studio for young singers and taught at the Berlin Hochschule. She died in Berlin in 1975.
