HALLE, ADAM DE LA (b. circa 1231, probably at Arras, France; d. Naples, Italy, 1288)
Adam de la Halle was a famous trouvère and an early composer of motets.
He is particularly remembered for his Jeu de Robin et Marion, ( Play of Robin and Marion) which is still published and occasionally performed. It is a precursor of opéra comique and a contender for the name of first-ever opera.
