  15. Sitting comfortably in your cockpit, surrounded by nice clicky
  16. switches, you anxiously flick the POWER switch.   Your cockpit
  17. powers up and you see your spacecraft shown green on a starmap
  18. in front of you. Also shown, is the top secret blue-probe that
  19. you must capture before the enemy does!  Tension mounts as you
  20. hit the thrusters to head for glory, but then...
  21.  
  22. Starmada is a turn based, space war game, requiring skill,
  23. strategy and good fortune. Each player commands a Starmada - a
  24. group of armed spacecraft. The first Starmada to locate and
  25. secure the top secret blue-probe and deliver it to the shuttle
  26. wins the game. You can also practice solo. You'll need an IBM PC
  27. or 100% compatible, 486/33MHz, 4MB RAM (or higher), VGA, Sound
  28. Blaster or 100% compatible, a mouse and Windows 3.1 or 95.

  34. Installation
  35. ------------
  36. The Starmada files are distributed in a compressed format to
  37. reduce internet download time or so that they fit on a floppy.

  39. Do you have starmada.zip or starmada.EXE?
  40.  
  41.   starmada.zip - If you have downloaded the distribution file
  42.                  starmada.zip from the internet, you will need
  43.                  to unpack it using a program such as pkunzip
  44.                  or Winzip, etc...

  46.   starmada.EXE - If you have the distribution file, starmada.EXE
  47.                  (on a floppy disk), then you need to unpack it
  48.                  by double clicking it from your file manager.

  51. Create an Icon
  52. --------------
  53. If you want to quick-start Starmada (by double clicking an icon
  54. on the desktop), create an icon shortcut to starmada.exe as
  55. follows:-

  57.   Win 3.1 - From Program Manager, select File/New/Program Item
  58.             e.g. Description:    Starmada
  59.             e.g. Command line:   c:\starmada\starmada.exe
  60.  
  61.   Win 95 -  Right-click on the desktop, select New/Shortcut
  62.             e.g. Command line:   c:\starmada\starmada.exe
  63.             e.g. Name:           Starmada
  64.  
  65. Once the details have been entered, click OK or Finish.
  66. Double click the shortcut icon to play the game.

  69. Uninstall
  70. ---------
  71. If you do not wish to register Starmada, you can uninstall it
  72. thus; from File Manager (or Explorer) highlight the Starmada
  73. directory (folder) and press delete.

  76. Resolution
  77. ----------
  78. For best effect, but not essential, run Starmada full screen
  79. by setting your screen resolution to 640 x 480. In Win 95's
  80. control panel, double click the Display icon and select the
  81. Settings tab. Adjust the Desktop area slider to 640 by 480
  82. pixels and the Color palette to 256 Color.
  83. To set the resolution from Windows 3.1, consult your Windows
  84. user guide (Index: Change System Settings from Setup).

  89. This program, whilst unregistered, may be distributed freely
  90. with all original files intact, to anyone for evaluation
  91. purposes. It may not be sub-licensed, or charged for, without
  92. the permission of Micronda. Whilst every effort has been made
  93. to ensure that this program is safe to use, no responsibility
  94. can be accepted by Micronda for financial loss or damage caused
  95. to persons or equipment, as a result of using it.
  96. This program, once evaluated, must be registered with Micronda
  97. or removed from the computer. Once registered, it may NOT be
  98. distributed nor shall the registration password be divulged to
  99. any third parties without the express permission of Micronda.

  107. ------------
  108. When using this program unregistered, you will only have access
  109. to one of the four starmaps, this still lets you enjoy the
  110. game, but "not arf" as much as when you have registered it.
  111. Once registered, you will receive a password, this will give
  112. you access to three more starmaps, which let you do battle from
  113. Jupiter to the Observer Rig in Orion!
