  7. INTRODUCTION
  8.  
  9. MAZEMAKER is a game for Microsoft Windows(tm) Version 3.0 or higher.  You can
  10. probably guess that it is a maze game.  The intent of the game is to present
  11. you with the sort of challenges that a laboratory mouse faces rather than those
  12. of an Adventure style game.  Thus MAZEMAKER mazes look more like the ones you
  13. might find in a puzzle book; but with some important differences.  All
  14. but the easiest mazes are three dimensional!  And it is nearly impossible to
  15. work a maze from the end.

  17. MAZEMAKER mazes are also more complicated.  When MAZEMAKER is started it
  18. generates the "Maze of the Day."  If, at first, you find the Maze of the
  19. Day too difficult try the "EASY Maze of the Day" until you get the hang of it.
  20. If you want to be shown how to attempt a maze, select DEMO from the GAME menu.

  22. After you solve the Maze of the Day, you become eligible to attempt the "Maze
  23. of the Week."  When you solve this you can try the "Maze of the Month" and
  24. ultimately the "Maze of the Year!"

  26. There are other mazes and options too.  You can probably figure them out by
  27. exploring the menu options.  If not, or if you want more information, look at
  28. the text file MAZEMAKR.HLP.  (This file may also be viewed while running
  29. MAZEMAKER by selecting HELP.)

  40. MAZEMAKER IS SHAREWARE

  42. MAZEMAKER is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to you for
  43. your evaluation.  This is a complete program.  None of its features is
  44. disabled.  But MAZEMAKER is NOT free.  If you wish to continue using it you are
  45. required to pay a registration fee.  Remember: If you want to be Attorney
  46. General someday (or even if you don't) that it is against the law to use this
  47. program except as authorized by its copyright owner.

  62. TEMPORARY LICENSE

  64. You are granted a temporary license to install and use MAZEMAKER for evalu-
  65. tion purposes.  This license expires 21 days after you first use the game.

  68. REGISTRATION

  70. If you find MAZEMAKER entertaining and wish to continue playing beyond the
  71. evaluation period, you must make a registration payment of $15 to CRTS.  Upon
  72. receipt of the fee CRTS will send you a registered copy of MAZEMAKER which
  73. includes a license that permits its unlimited use by one person on one computer
  74. at a time.  Registered users can submit their records to the MAZEMAKER
  75. National Registry and those that have solved the Maze of the Year! are
  76. eligible to win MAZEMAKER tee-shirts.

  78. A printed copy of the file ORDER.MAZ should be filled out and accompany
  79. the $15 registration fee.

  86. If you encounter a problem while running MAZEMAKER (not including
  87. frustration!), please contact CRTS.  We will endeavor to provide assistance
  88. to help solve your problem.  If you are writing, be sure to describe your
  89. Windows environment (DOS and Windows version numbers, processor type, memory,
  90. video configuration, other applications that are running, autoexec.bat,
  91. config.sys, and system.ini files; and anything else you think might be
  92. relevant.) as well as the anomaly exhibited by MAZEMAKER.

  94. Registered users who are not satisfied with our response, FOR ANY REASON, and
  95. who return their ORIGINAL MAZEMAKER Program Disk to CRTS within six months from
  96. the date they registered, will have their registration fee refunded in full.

  99. COPYING AND REDISTRIBUTING
  100.  
  101. You are permitted and encouraged to provide free copies of MAZEMAKER to anyone
  102. you choose.  The only requirement in this regard is that ALL of the files
  103. listed below, or their compressed equivalent, must be included unmodified in
  104. any copy you make.  You may not charge any fee except as provided below.
  105.  
  106. Anyone distributing MAZEMAKER for any kind of remuneration must first contact
  107. CRTS at the address below for authorization.  This authorization will be
  108. automatically granted to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to
  109. its guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin
  110. offering MAZEMAKER immediately.

  122. The following files are supplied with MAZEMAKER:

  124. 1)  MAZEMAKR.EXE   A Windows 3.0+ executable file;
  125.  
  126. 2)  MAZEMAKR.DAT   A file with setup information, stock maze descriptions,
  127.                    and eventually data about mazes you have worked on;
  128.  
  129. 3)  MAZEMAKR.HLP   An ASCII file with information about MAZEMAKER.
  130.  
  131. 4)  SETUP.EXE      A Windows 3.0+ program which automates installation
  132.                    of MAZEMAKER onto your system;
  133.  
  134. 5)  SETUP.INF      An information file used by the installation program
  135.                    that tells it what must be done;
  136.  
  137. 6)  METER.DLL      A Dynamic Link Library required by the installation program;
  138.  
  139. 7)  ORDER.MAZ      A form that should accompany your registration fee;

  148. INSTALLATION
  149.  
  150. YOU MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS ENTIRE FILE BEFORE INSTALLING MAZEMAKER!

  153. Place a disk with the MAZEMAKER files in the "A" drive.
  154.  
  155. From the Windows Program Manager, select File - Run, type  "A:SETUP <enter>"
  156. and then follow directions. 
  157.  
  158. Note: If you cannot use the "A" drive, you may use the "B" drive or any other
  159. DOS Path.  Just be sure to indicate the correct path when you tell the Program
  160. Manager what you want to "run." 
  161.  
  162. If you take all the installation default, files <1>, <2> and <3> above will be
  163. copied to the directory C:\GAMES. (This directory will be created if it does
  164. not exist, or you can specify some other new or existing directory.)  The
  165. MAZEMAKER Icon will be added to the GAMES Group that already exists on most
  166. Windows platforms.  (The GAMES Group will be created if, by some miracle, it
  167. does not exist.)
