These four games share a common foundation of dealing a five card poker hand from a fifty-two card deck, allowing the player to discard any of the original five, and then replacing the discarded cards with new ones from the remaining deck. It requires 16 colors or greater, has cool graphics, and has features not normally found in breakout. For one thing, the paddle is oriented so that it moves up and down, and the paddle is in the middle of the playing area, so you can hit to either side. Watch out, there are bricks that you should not hit!! Game play is quite fast. This is a great one from the author of Beebop! When you first open the game, a ball will bounce around like crazy, it's picking the speed for your Mac (I think). It takes a few seconds to load, be patient. During the late 70's and most of the 80's, he won an enormous number of contests, including olympic gold medals in both slalom and "storslalom".Incidentally, I have the same first name as them, and I am rather fond of downhill skiing too, though getting down without falling is enough challenge for me. In this game, you take the role of a skier in a championship. You can run practice runs, compete in separate games or run entire cups with several games. What you see on the screen is something like what you would see in TV - the skier seen from above. This is a new updated color version!! Check it out.

Azile is a cranky therapist who couldn't care less what your problems are. (This one attended the Don Rickles School of Psychology.) This is a censored version which has been rated PG. If you have Apple's new Speech Manager, you can actually hear as well as see the abuse you so richly deserve (making this an excellent demonstration of the Speech Manager's new capabilities)! V.4.3 contains many new and improved insults. Azile is 32 bit clean, System 7 compatible, 68040 cache compatible, virtual memory compatible, big screen compatible and Apple event aware. Call the author if you want the R version!!

You can then use any cheats you wish, simply by selecting them from the Cheats menu. The cheat can easily be switched off again simply by selecting the same cheat again from the menu. Current cheats are for - Diamonds 1.6, Prince of Persia 1.0, Lemmings 1.4.2 and Eight Ball Deluxe 1.01. The demo version is like the full version except that you only have access to one or two cheats in every game. There are no time limits.

This is a Great one!! Click on the blinking question mark, and everything returns to normal, then sigh a big relief, it really was just a joke. Set your friends up (on your own Mac). It is illegal to tamper with other's Macs. I handed it to AMUG's technician - "Here's a new drive utility..." He agrees that this is a well done one!

Clicking on some objects causes sounds and animations to play. Every time the color is changed one of many amusing sounds play. There are many pictures to color including a set of mosaic tiles with which any picture can be created, a shapes page where children can do more than color, and a Nite Lite backlit peg board simulation. Now you can print the pages which have been colored. There is a Parents menu with help.

A save the score capability has been added. A few bidding routines have been improved to agree with current trends. The purpose of this game is to form groups of 3 or more cards, which contain either consecutive cards of the same suit or cards of the same number value but of differing suits. When you begin a new game, 14 cards are drawn randomly for the Mac and 14 for the player. The player opens his game by playing at least one group of 3 cards or more, using only the cards on his palette. The sum of those cards values must be 25 or more. After the player has opened the game, he can use the cards on the board to complete groups with cards on his palette. The player can move or reorganise all the cards on the board. The objective is to stay in game by removing blocks. Although it looks similar to Polytris, it is a different game. Rows or columns with 1 to 4 squares drop from top and stop when they hit the dropped blocks or bottom. The squares can be removed by arranging them sequences of 3 or more of the same color horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Poly-RC is more challenging because it has rows and columns with 1 to 4 squares, bombs, weights and radiation. Depending on your skill, you can adjust the difficulty of the game. This version of Poly-RC is shareware. If you want to use it, please send at least 'ONE US DOLLAR' to the author.

You may use each piece only once. You can also remove pieces. This game will keep your attention for quite awhile!

Your job is to use the information provided by these numbers to correctly locate all the mines on the playing field. You can pick from many field sizes (or custom), have craters, moving mines and a randomizer, use a pause button, and use special keys to uncover a square, mark it as a mine or mark as questioned. High scores and statistics are saved!

HeimRoids started as an educational effort on my part, to see how you get a Mac to draw bright colors on the screen and play annoying sounds at the same time. Whee! It has since of course become a cult smash and a public nuisance, netting me hundreds of e-mail messages and almost ten minutes of fame. HemiRoids was nominated for the 1993 MacUser ShareWare award for best shareware entertainment product. Requires - System 6.0.7 or later, 8-bit color, enough memory to give it an 1200K partition, and 32-bit QuickDraw. This version has lots of fixes and works on AV Macs and the Sound Manager 3.0. Check it out!

The object of the game is to move the man up through holes, to the top level. Version 1.2 - No longer a demo, full game; extra lives after every 25,000 points; 22 different enemy characters; practice mode; toggle sound; and many levels!! It has been successfully tested on Mac Plus, SE, SE/30, II, IIcx, IIsi, IIci, LC and LCII computers. It doesn't seem to work on the Quadra series (tested on the Q800 and 700)-it will crash.

One legend relates the story of Tnarom who tried to destroy the beautiful kingdom’s harmony by imprisoning the Fairies, the guardian angels of Llyn Cerrig. You're job is to set the Fairies free. The rotating graphics are pretty cool! I hope you like it. Feel free to replace the sprites and/or sounds. CheeseToast requires a color mac with a 13" monitor or larger and 32-bit Quickdraw. Known bug - After Dark will kick in after a game, even though you've been using the keyboard like crazy - this is because I'm not using the WaitNextEvent while a game is in progress. Still, it's a fun one, and you shoot out of a tea pot!!

Similar to Reversi.

It is a poor B/W game, as I’ve got only an old and glorious mac SE, and I’ve written it in THINK Pascal. It should run on any macintosh running sys 6.04 or later. If you find any bug or have problems with the game, contact the author and he'll try to fix them (if he has time). The author used a lot of icons in the menus in order to make them easy to understand to a child.

I saw this on a friends Newton (the program there written by Henri Lamiraux), and I wrote a Mac version (with Lamiraux's permission) to avoid watching some boring videos. The objective of the game is to place as many lines as possible on the given shape. A line can be placed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally so that it passes thru four or five occupied verticies (the fifth will be added if it's missing). Lines may not overlap each other, except at individual points. Try it out! Henri says with some practice you should be able to go above 100 and that he could go to around 200.

Choose “Never clear the screen” if you don’t want the screen cleared. Sound can be turned on or off. This program works with any Mac (with System 6.0.2 or higher) but looks best on one with color. You start out with a city and explore outward, finding more cities and islands, until you find and deal with the opposing side (or vice versa.). The game provides a full featured interface with many ways to direct your units automatically. Empire Master is highly addictive and should be avoided at all costs. The demo version will not let you save a game part way through and restricts some options, but you can play through to the end. You can not play over appletalk, or vary the map parameters with this version, but it'll give you a good view of the game! If you get sleepy and want to save, send them $25.

A war consists of series of games. At the end of each game, players give and take money according to the result. A war ends when one of the players go bankrupt. 7 cards are distributed to each player's hand, 6 cards on the table, and the rest (21 cards) makes the stack. Other player's hand and the stack are not displayed on the screen. At your turn, draw a card from your hand. If there is a matching card on the table, the matching pair becomes part of your collection. Try it.

This version marks an important advance for Spectre World Editor. It has moved from a week long hack to a sophisticated editor. Make sure you use the editor on a copy and not your original disk of this great commercial game.

What makes it hard is that you can only push one treasure at a time (they’re too heavy to push two at once), and there are no handholds (you can only push, not pull). So you have to make sure that you don’t get a treasure stuck in a corner, or that you don’t get two of them stuck against each other. It will usually take some thought (maybe quite a bit) to figure out how to solve a level. But all 85 levels are solvable. And you can make your own levels when you get tired of the ones included. This version adds better looking walls and graphics, bigger undo buffer, new movement options and more.

The levels you get to play are not contiguous, so the difficulty curve in the real version is not quite as steep as it is here. When you start Lemmings you'll locate and open the file. Always make a copy of the original Levels file first! You can open a level by its ID (this is NOT the same as the level number) or find a level by typing in (part of) its name. This is case-sensitive. Just change any of the parameters using the usual Macintosh editing tools. Select the "Save" button to save the changes or the "Don't Save" button to discard the changes. Now has sound, smoother animation, new obstacles and "special" rooms. This version is the latest (and last) non-commercial version of Glider.

Complete instructions are given within the game. Nice color graphics. This is a "thinking" game, give yourself time to learn the ins and outs.

You move your current tile with the mouse, and rotate it by pressing the space bar. You can place it in any open square on the board by clicking the mouse in that square. You receive points for each tile you place, the number of points depending on how quickly you place the tile. If you haven't placed a tile when the "points for this tile" timer runs out, that tile will automatically be placed in the nearest available square. The game is over when the board is full. Tiles disappear from the board when they are surrounded on 3 sides by matching colors. The more that disappear, the higher the score!

It was one of my favorite games for the Apple II, so I decided to port it over to the Macintosh. The controls are Left = Left Arrow (or K), Right = Right Arrow (or L), Up = A, Down = Z, Pause = Escape, Restart = Command-R, Sound On/Off = Command-S, Quit = Command-Q. This is a beta game with no help files. I'm not sure what the object of the game is, but I know you try to move around your man without running into objects.

Do not despair, since there are things to help you out on your journey - oases, friendly caravans, abandoned campsites where you might find a stash of gold, and trading posts where you can purchase supplies and useful items. Code compactness was also emphasized and the resulting application fits in 80 Kb. Therefore, Space Junkie won't clutter your hard disk. Fun, fast action game. Requires an 68020 Mac or higher, color or greyscale monitor with at least 16 colors and a minimumly a 12 inch screen. Works in 24 or 32 bit mode, and System 6 or 7. Check out this fun game.

If your wife doesn't like it, perhaps your kids will. In HeartQuest, you control a butterfly with the mouse, collecting hearts while trying to avoid the sticky flypapers. That's about it. Start by selecting "new game" in the "Game" menu. The faster you do it, the more bonus you will get. The game has two modes,normal mode and macho mode. In normal mode, the game ends after three levels. In macho mode, the game is over whenever you run out of bonuses. The normal mode is recommended for beginners, children, and anyone who doesn't have great hand-to-eye coordination.

Using this information FS-ATC sends messages to the pilot using notification manager dialog box, speaking the messages using Speech Manager or playing sampled sounds. There are lots of features like realistic pilot-controller communication, altitude control, more accurate position tracking, support for sampled sound resources, and support for the new Speech Manager.

Your job is to make arrangements with the flowers given to you as quickly as possible. Flowers come at you from one of the side openings, you have to maneuver flowers so that they stop as part of an arrangement for that kind of flower (5 kinds). Completed arrangements are replaced with a symbol. When you have fulfilled your quota of arranged flowers, you may continue to the next level, 20 levels in all. This arcade game is very challenging and has great sound and graphics. It requires system 7.x to run.

The puzzle is similar to Apple's Puzzle DA, except the pieces are moved into two rows. You can only move one card at a time, and you have to complete the path from A to J, using two rows, with the blank area left directly under the A. You can move a card which is above, under, or beside the blank area, other movements are not valid. This solitary card game is to test your ability of organization (many IQ tests use this kind of method.) So, have your computer on and test yourself! Scores are dependent on time taken to solve the puzzle. A key factor - make sure you know where the blank space is supposed to end up!!

Pegs are removed from the board by jumping one peg over another - horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally. There are many many boards to choose from, and each board has many many puzzles to choose from. If you solve all the boards, you can make your own boards, or you can make your own puzzles for existing boards. There are lots of options available!

Mac Bzone requires system 6.0.7 or higher and a 68020 + 68881 combination or higher (it requires an FPU). It will run on black and white systems and will take some advantage of color on color systems (it runs best in 1bit or 4bit modes).

You slide tiles around on a board trying to deduce the location of hidden coins. It starts out pretty easy, but there are 25 levels that will really start to tax your brain. It's got great sound and graphics, color or black and white, and is compatible with any Mac. People who like the MineSweeper type games will LOVE this one! (it has no luck!) This is the fully fuctioning shareware version of the commercial game, the Shell Game 1.0. This is from our friends at BugByte Inc. Check out their commercial programs too.

Some erie sounds abound here & there as well. LUNAR CRATERS follows the same rules as the standard Chinese Checkers game. Starting out the game, marbles are sitting in opposing triangles. The object is to transfer all your marbles to the opposite triangle in place of your opponents marbles (and be the first one to do it).

The multiplier is a cool thing. The more bricks you hit, the higher the multiplier counts. When the ball hits your paddle, your score is calculated and the multiplier is reset back to 0. It is possible for the ball to leave the paddle and come back with 30,000 or more accumulated point. This is a fun break-out type game which requires System 7 and a color Mac.

The game rules can be found in the 'Help' option under the 'File' menu. This unregistered version of the game allows you to play a 'Sampler' level only. The registered version has 30 exciting levels to play and saves the top 10 scores! Registration is cheap, $5.

Sound easy? It is not. Blocks come in two colors and four shapes - square, ring, plus and diamond. That's also the hierarchy in which the blocks are ordered, with diamond being the highest block. Pushing two blocks together of the same order but of opposite color transmogrifies the two blocks into one block of the next lowest order, or in the case of pushing two squares together, both will disappear. The hard part is that you have to push blocks of opposite color together, and sometimes the blocks get stuck up against walls. The music is enjoyable, as is the game.

This game has technology similar to that used in the PC games Ultima Underworld and Wolfenstein 3-D, but now it is on the Mac with better, hi-res graphics. Pathways also has Active Panning Stereo Sound. The sounds actually play in the left or right channel depending on their location in the game! This demo is fully functional and has three special levels not in the release version.

This number or empty square tells you how many mines are in the immediately surrounding eight squares (six if you clicked on a side square, or three if you clicked on a corner square). This is a game of luck and logic based on the traditional MineSweeper.

Read the included docs, play is not totally intuitive. NOTE - Lembracs has a vocabulary of 1200 words, 200 of each length, stored in its resource file. Those who know how to use ResEdit can modify or add words by changing the ‘STR#’ resources of the game. Make sure you know what you’re doing, though! ResEdit is not for the casual user.

One of its features is that if you do not have that rulebook, and you want it, GameMaster will automatically download it (or learn it), so you can then play it. It also handles upgrading in much the same way. If someone has a newer version of a rulebook that he wants to play with you, you can upgrade it.

It is based upon a similar game called EMPIRE which was implemented for Vax computers. A demo version of Empire Builder is distributed freely, but the registered version is only available by mail. The Print Order Form command in the File menu will generate an order form that you can use. It also prints bug reports and upgrade forms. The demo version does not include any of the rule editing facilities, the map parameters (size and density) can only be varied among tight limits and saved games cannot be read back in. A game saved by the demo version can be read by the unrestricted version.
