SETTING VOODOO2 SUPPORT FOR SOME ELECTRONIC ARTS (EA) GAMES
===========================================================
The instructions below are provided under the assumption that you have
installed each game into its default directory in the C: drive. If this
is not the case, adjust the instructions accordingly.
NHL 98
------
Once the game is installed, make sure that the 3D Acceleration option
in the Options menu is set to On.
NBA Live 98
-----------
1. During the installation, choose Yes when asked if you want to create a
desktop shortcut.
2. Once the game is installed, add "3DFX" to the end of the command line
in the desktop shortcut (or the Start Menu shortcut), for example:
a. Right-click on the desktop shortcut icon and select Properties on
the shortcut menu that appears.
b. Click the Shortcut tab.
In the Target text box, you should see:
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA Live 98\nbawin.exe"
c. Add 3DFX to the end of the command line.
The Target box should read (including the quotes):
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA Live 98\nbawin.exe" 3DFX
FIFA 98 Road To World Cup
-------------------------
1. During the installation, choose Yes when asked if you want to create a
desktop shortcut.
2. Once the game is installed, remove "-no3dx" from the end of the command
line in the desktop shortcut (or the Start menu shortcut), for example:
a. Right-click on the desktop shortcut icon and select Properties on
the shortcut menu that appears.
b. Click the Shortcut tab.
In the Target text box, you should see:
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98\fifartwc.exe" -no3dx
c. Remove the "-no3dx" from the end of the command line.
The Target box should read (including the quotes):
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98\fifartwc.exe"
Need For Speed II SE
--------------------
1. During the installation, click Yes when asked if you want to install a
desktop shortcut.
2. Once the game is installed, open the Windows Explorer and view the
contents of the NFS II SE CD-ROM.
3. Copy a file called nfs2ea.exe from the root directory on the CD-ROM to
the game's installation directory (the default directory is
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed II SE).
4. Make a copy of the desktop shortcut:
a. Right-click on the NFS II SE desktop icon and drag it to another
spot on the desktop.
b. Select "Copy Here" from the shortcut menu that appears.
You should have another desktop icon called "Copy of NFSIISE".
5. Right-click on this new icon and select Properties from the shortcut menu
that appears.
5. Click the 'Shortcut' tab.
In the Target text box, you should see:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed II\nfs2sen.exe"
6. Change "nfs2sen.exe" at the end of the line to "nfs2sea.exe".
The line will then read:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed II\nfs2sea.exe"
7. You may also rename the icon from "Copy of NFSIISE" to "NFSIISE for 3Dfx".
