- 3. Installation
-
- 3.1 Installing ELSA graphics board for Windows 95/98
-
- Remove your "old" VGA and put the ELSA graphics board into your
- computer. If your ELSA graphics adapter contains a VGA-switch,
- be sure that it's position is set to the "1" position (VGA
- enabled).
- On startup Windows 95/98 detects the ELSA graphics board as
- "PCI early VGA Device" or a "PCI standard VGA adapter" and
- prompts for a manufacturer disk. Now browse through the ELSA CD
- and select the proper display driver subdirectory (eg. GLORIA\
- SYNERGY\WIN9x\STANDARD). Windows will copy the driver files and
- prompt you to reboot the computer. After restarting, Windows is
- running with the ELSA display drivers active. If your ELSA
- graphics adapter is not the primary display adapter, you have
- to activate it by clicking on the connected monitor bitmap in
- the global windows display settings. The installation routine
- will additionally create the ELSA Settings and ELSA 3D Settings
- property pages and install an OpenGL ICD

- 5. Known Bugs and Operating Notes
-
- This section documents known anomalies or problems and gives
- hints on work arounds.
-
- 5.1 Version 4.10.01.0203-0009
-
- 5.1.1 Changing color depth with QuickRes
-
- If QuickRes changes the color depth without restarting Windows,
- sometime you can see drawing errors. QuickRes patches (!) the
- display driver, so the driver can no longer work properly.
-
- 5.1.2 Display errors with DirectX
-
- Applications using DirectX could cause display errors when
- DirectX version I or II is installed. Please install DirectX
- version 5 to solve this problems. You will find this version
- of DirectX on the WINNERware CD in the directory
- MSAPPS\DIRECTX5
-
- 5.1.3 OpenGL
-
- Hardware-accelerated OpenGL only works in double buffered modes
- at HiColor or TrueColor. In case your display adapter has 8MB
- of memory, OpenGL will work at resolutions up to 1280x1024 in
- HiColor or 1024x768 at TrueColor. With 4MB of display memory
- OpenGL will be available up to 800x600 in HiColor and only
- 640x480 in TrueColor.
- Only single screen solutions are supported, in Windows 98 and
- Windows 95/OSR2.x
-
- 5.1.4 Games
-
- Due to a program bug, the game 'Castrol Honda Superbike World-
- champions' will only run, if the texture format 3-3-2 stays
- disabled in the DirectX property page.
