  48.         This CD contains the ELSA Display Driver for Microsoft
  49.         Windows 95/98
  50.  
  51.         The driver supports 256, 32768, 65536 and 16 Million colors
  52.         in all resolutions available on used ELSA board.

  71.         In case of trouble during or after installation, please make
  72.         sure you have all the files mentioned above!

  77. 3.      Installation
  78.  
  79. 3.1     Installing ELSA graphics board for Windows 95/98
  80.  
  81.         Remove your "old" VGA and put the ELSA graphics board into your
  82.         computer. If your ELSA graphics adapter contains a VGA-switch, 
  83.         be sure that it's position is set to the "1" position (VGA 
  84.         enabled). 
  85.           On startup Windows 95/98 detects the ELSA graphics board as
  86.         "PCI early VGA Device" or a "PCI standard VGA adapter" and 
  87.         prompts for a manufacturer disk. Now browse through the ELSA CD 
  88.         and select the proper display driver subdirectory (eg. WINNER\
  89.         2000A3D\WIN9x). Windows will copy the driver files and prompt you 
  90.         to reboot the computer. After restarting, Windows is running 
  91.         with the ELSA display drivers active. If your ELSA graphics 
  92.         adapter is not the primary display adapter, you have to 
  93.         activate it by clicking on the connected monitor bitmap in 
  94.         the global windows display settings. The installation routine 
  95.         will additionally create the ELSA Settings and ELSA DirectX 
  96.         Settings property pages.

  98.         In all following Windows sessions you can change the
  99.         resolution without rebooting your system.

  129.         DirectDraw/Direct3D support
  130.  
  131.         The display driver do support DirectDraw/Direct3D, but to
  132.         use it in an application, you must install DirectDraw/
  133.         Direct3D. The Microsoft DirectDraw/Direct3D components are
  134.         not included in the standard retail version of Windows 95.
  135.         You need an installation of DirectX 5.
  136.  
  137.         To install DirectDraw/Direct3D start the program DXSETUP in
  138.         the directory \MSAPPS\DIRECTX5\DIRECTX on the ELSA CD.

  143. 6.      Known Bugs and Operating Notes
  144.  
  145.         This section documents known anomalies or problems and gives
  146.         hints on work arounds.
  147.  
  148.         There occur misrepresentation of colors and displays by
  149.         viewing MPEG files with ELSAmotion.
  150.  
  151.         To avoid errors in display, it is necessary to use the ELSA
  152.         Settings to switch between 32768 colors and 65536 colors.
  153.  
  154.         Switching Duke3D between fullscreen and windowed mode
  155.         (using ALT-ENTER) sometimes crashes the system.
  156.  
  157.         Switching the color depth while D3D-Applications are running
  158.         can result in system crashes or errors in display.
  159.  
  160.         This display driver is for singlescreen use only in Windows98.
