  4. We hope you enjoy using Hi, Finance!  This can be a powerful tool 
  5. for planning your personal finances and business ventures.  The 
  6. file "HiFinanc.wri" is the full User's Guide.  Please examine 
  7. that before calling technical support!  The file you are now 
  8. reading (HiFinanc.txt) provides a quick overview as well as 
  9. installation directions, notices regarding legal use and vendor 
  10. information, and notes not included in the other documentation.

  13. OVERVIEW OF HI, FINANCE!
  14. Hi, Finance! requires a computer running Microsoft Windows 3.0 or
  15. above.  You will get better performance using a 386 or above with 
  16. 4MB of RAM or above.  Using a mouse is highly recommended.  You 
  17. may use the regular menus or the iconic menu screens to access 
  18. desired modules.

  56. In addition to written documentation (printed copy provided to 
  57. registered users), there is extensive online context-sensitive 
  58. help (Press F1).

  60. INSTALLING HI, FINANCE!
  61. I.  If you downloaded Hi, Finance! from Compuserve or a BBS in 
  62. compressed form:
  63.  
  64.     1.  Copy the file ("HIFIN110.EXE") or files ("HIFI1A.EXE",
  65.         "HIFI1B.EXE" and "HIFI1C.EXE") to a temporary directory.
  66.  
  67.     2.  BBS files supplied by Brightridge Solutions are self-
  68.         extracting; simply RUN them to decompress.  "HIFI1A.EXE"
  69.         contains the setup and program files; "HIFI1B.EXE" has
  70.         the Realizer runtime files; "HIFI1C.EXE" provides the
  71.           user's guide, online help, and sample files.
  72.  
  73.     3.  From Windows' Program or File Manager, run "setup.exe".
  74.  
  75.     4.  The installation program will propose "C:\HIFINANC\" as 
  76.         the default directory for the application.  You may 
  77.         change the drive or directory name or both.  Install 
  78.         will create a subdirectory of the main Windows 
  79.         directory in which it will place runtime files.  This 
  80.         location should not be changed.  Follow screen prompts.
  81.  
  82.     5.  The program will create a Program Manager group and place 
  83.         an icon for Hi, Finance! in it.  You can move this icon 
  84.         to another group and destroy the "Hi Finance" group or 
  85.         leave it as it is.
  86.  
  87.     6.  You may now start Hi, Finance! by double-clicking on its 
  88.         icon or by selecting "HiFinanc.exe" in File Manager.
  89.  
  90. II.  If you received Hi, Finance! from a disk vendor on 360K 
  91. diskettes (2) or 1.2MB or 720KB diskette:
  92.  
  93.     1.  Place Diskette 1 in the appropriate drive (probably A 
  94.         or B).    
  95.  
  96.     2.  Proceed with installation as outlined in steps 3-6 in 
  97.         part I, changing diskettes if prompted.
  98.     
  99.  
  100. III.  Manual installation:
  101.  
  102.     1.  The following files are distributed by Brightridge
  103.          Solutions, Inc. in compressed form:  "HIFINANC.EXE", 
  104.         "HIFINANC.HLP", "HIFINANC.WRI", "RLZRUN10.RTS", 
  105.         "CCLIB1.EXE", and "STANDARD.EXE".  If you need to 
  106.             extract these files outside of the supplied setup
  107.             utility, use the "EXPAND.EXE" program supplied with 
  108.             Microsoft Windows 3.0, using this syntax:
  109.  
  110.          EXPAND source destination
  111.  
  112.     2.  The application's executable file, "HIFINANC.EXE", may be 
  113.         installed anywhere accessible to Windows.  
  114.  
  115.     3.  The runtime files, "RLZRUN10.RTS", "STANDARD.EXE", and 
  116.         "CCLIB1.EXE" should be in the "RLZRUN10" subdirectory 
  117.         off the main Windows subdirectory.
  118.  
  119.     4.  To use online help, "HIFINANC.HLP" should be copied to 
  120.         the same directory as HIFINANC.EXE or the Windows 
  121.         directory.
  122.  
  123.     5.  Other files included in the package are not necessary
  124.         to the operation of Hi, Finance!:
  125.  
  126.         a.  "HIFINANC.TXT" -- This file.  Keep it!
  127.  
  128.         b.  "HIFINANC.WRI" -- Hi, Finance! User's Guide, in 
  129.         Windows Write (.wri) format.  If you have a 
  130.         registered copy, you have this in printed form.
  131.  
  132.         c.  Sample files (if you chose to install them).  
  133.         Could be helpful during learning phase.
  134.  
  135.         d.  "SHAREWRE.DOC" -- explains the shareware concept.
  136.  
  137.         e.  "VENDOR.DOC" -- Addressed to shareware disk 
  138.         vendors.  Explains distribution policies permitted 
  139.         under license.
  140.  
  141.         f.  "REGISTER.TXT" -- Registration form.
  142.  
  143. LEGAL USE OF HI, FINANCE!
  144. Hi, Finance! is shareware.  It is copyrighted software that may be 
  145. used only in compliance with the license.  You are permitted to 
  146. "try before you buy" and make copies for others FOR EVALUATION 
  147. PURPOSES ONLY.  If you continue to use the program, you must 
  148. register (pay for) it.  A further explanation of shareware is 
  149. provided in the SHAREWRE.DOC file.  
  150.  
  151. VENDORS, DISTRIBUTORS, RESELLERS, ETC.:
  152. ANYONE who copies, "sells", or distributes this software for 
  153. profit MUST read the VENDOR.DOC file and comply with its license 
  154. provisions.  Failure to do so is copyright infringement.  ASP 
  155. Vendors are automatically licensed to distribute Hi, Finance!  
  156. Others must obtain permission from Brightridge Solutions, Inc.
